Bonfire Mingle Post || OTA

Around the time the sun is starting to set in the early to mid-evening on Saturday, 11/12 as promised, Lydia will (hopefully with the help of Allison and a couple of others) have set up a bonfire on the beach. She's brought several bags of marshmallows, boxes of graham crackers, bars of chocolate, and s'more skewers so that s'mores can totally be a thing. There's also plenty of blankets and towels spread around, because she wants to be sure everyone is comfortable. Jill has offered to bring the alcohol.
Lydia can be found making her way around, greeting and mingling with anyone who arrives and throughout the night. She'll be doing her best to appear approachable so that anyone who maybe hasn't ever been to a bonfire and has questions will feel comfortable approaching her to do that.
[ ooc: please feel free to respond directly to this with your own top comments to play out stuff in here or you can use this as a prompt to make your own logs elsewhere, totally up to you. If you'd like to play with Lydia, please consider this her top comment. Mods, let me know if I need to make any changes to this.]

Leo Valdez 🔥 OTA
Leo Valdez: Party Crasher Extraordinaire! Has a nice ring to it, doesn't it? Leo certainly thinks so.
In any case, he mostly hangs out by the fire. As it dies down he brings more wood and makes it more structurally sound so that the position of the wood makes the air flow feed the fire, making the fire bigger and bigger. Occasionally, he puts his palm out to add more fire to the flame until a log catches or something. See? He might be a party crasher but he's helping out! Really!

Sophie is kind of a brat. Blame Cam.
Sophie has spent most of her time dancing in the sand, mingling and occasionally refreshing her drink. She's got no desire to have a hell of a hangover tomorrow. She's breathless from dancing when she sits down next to Leo, taking a long drink of her sweet cocktail. She's wearing a pair of jeans and an oversized sweater (it's her brother's) that keeps sliding off her shoulder.
"Pyro or were you hired to keep the fire going?"

Or, y'know, something like that.
At least she hasn't come empty handed. Aside from bringing her one-eyed dog, she's also brought with her a couple of boxes of pizza. It's in the midst of setting them down near the s'mores that she catches Leo hold his palm out and the fire respond as if it's just been fed. Where she comes from, it's not hard to put two and two together. There's a key member of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants with that exact ability.
"Cool power," she says, going on the off chance that Leo isn't actually a member of the Brotherhood himself and just another mutant who maybe isn't being as careful as he should be. Then again, they are in Itinere. Normal seems to be a barely conceived notion here half the time. Just to be on the safe side, Kate adds in, "Some of my best friends are mutants."

Anyway, he finds his way to the beach shortly after he spots the smoke signal that openly invites all the residents of itinere to the party! Of course, today he happens to be wearing his infamous orange camp shirt, too. So really the consistence of these two things make him feel like he is almost back at camp again. The only thing missing is the ritualistic burning of food in honor of the gods and...
Well, friends.
And either his eyes were playing tricks on him or he was seeing one of them when his green eyes fell on the fire thinking about their absence. Only one way to find out though, right?
"Leo," he calls, not quite in a inquisitive way or with any amount excitement yet. One part of him was sure he was seeing things with how tired he was getting, but the other part was not so sure because it was a very Leo thing to be adding more to the flame.

Tonight, Jill has dressed for the cooler weather. She's brought the people she told Lydia she would: Lucy, Cam and Hawke. It feels good to have these three with her. Also, it didn't hurt to have extra hands to lug all this stuff out here, even though it took two trips back into town. Really, she owes all three of them.
She'll mingle behind Lucy and Cam for the most part, never very good at talking to people she doesn't know without that buffer there, not out here in the real world. But she will make it a point to go introduce herself to their host, Lydia. She's a Southern girl and that's just called being polite, okay?

Plus, well. Cisco hasn't gotten out much. He's been working on the gauntlets, mostly, in the lab. So he's finished them finally, which will come in handy when it's time to actually fight the good fight again, but in the mean time, he's kind of been wasting away in STAR Labs, not being terribly social, which...you know. Isn't good. There's a new life to be had here and new people to meet.
First things first, though, he tells himself: he needs a drink. Why not? It's there after all. So Cisco makes his way up to the girl who looks like a bohemian princess of hipster cool rather than hipster obnoxious and he smiles. "Hey," he greets. "Is this for everybody or...?" he asks, gesturing toward the array of alcohol, not wanting to presume it's not just specifically there for a group of people she already knows.

So he shoots a text to Gansey and Blue, saying they're going and to meet them there if they want to join. Then he and Ronan and Opal and Chainsaw head out to the beach. Their little strange mixed up family. Adam kind of recognizes some of the people here, but only in passing. Others, he knows, are new.
He'll mostly be with Ronan, hand-in-hand, because just cause he doesn't want to talk about the thing doesn't mean he doesn't want Ronan close. Occasionally, he might be by himself too, although not all that often.

Lydia waits until the Jackson lookalike has taken a temporary leave before she approaches the other boy. He doesn't look entirely comfortable being here, but on the other hand, he doesn't look completely uncomfortable either. She's been trying to make her rounds and thank anyone here for coming — except not!Jackson — so this guy is another in a series of greetings, but she approaches with a bag of marshmallows and a skewer, holding them out as something of a peace offering.
"I'm Lydia," she introduces herself. "You look like you could use a s'more," she adds with a little smirk.

Tonight she's trying out a martini to add to her knowledge of Earth drinks and she'll wander around to see who ends up coming. She even makes a point of finding out who the host is, maybe so she can approach and introduce herself.
Eventually, she starts adding a cooler touch to the whole thing, mostly to see it sparkle. Off to the side, away from the bonfire so she doesn't risk putting it out, she creates temporary walls of ice. They sparkle, okay? Besides, mages don't seem to be as hated and feared here and there aren't any templars. So... why not?
If the fire looks like it's going out, she instructs everyone to stand back before casting fireball on the pile. That'll keep the thing going for another couple of hours at least.

"Madame Hawke!" He says with a dimpled grin, lifting the bottle in a toast to her before dipping into a deep, well-practiced bow. He raises up again and drinks from the mouth of the bottle. Then he's smiling again.
"Look at us, you and me, without our swords drawn and nary a battle cry to be heard." He boasts. "Seems we survived, eh? And that means, I owe you a drink." He will then offer the bottle to her, because why not? This is exactly how he would act with any other Musketeer. That he does with Hawke means she has earned his respect. They fought side-by-side, after all.

She comes early enough that she sees the sun set so that it's not as much of a shock to her system, and she happily helps set up when asked. Afterwards, she walks around, not with a drink in hand, but with a cat in arms. Buttercup is her safety net, as much as her sister is, and keeps her calm with his purring and soft fur. She's interested in s'mores, even with the extra effort of keeping them away from Buttercup.
All-in-all she's super friendly and looks like she's having a good time, even if she's a bit shy at first. Later on, she can be found approaching people to make sure they're enjoying the bonfire party.

She's never been to a bonfire either, not for fun anyway. She's stood around a trashcan with fire lit in it to keep warm plenty of times. But this? This is something else entirely. There's no end of the world, life or death shenanigans happening, at least not at the moment.
She sniffs the air, smelling something different and spots the girl with the cat. She things 'OMG CAT!!!' and in the blink of an eye she's standing in front of Prim, looking excitedly at said cat and wondering if she can reach out to pet it. "Ohhh he's so feckin' fluffy! What's his name? Or is it a her? Is it a girl cat? What's her name? Can I pet her?"

duke crocker | ota
Duke is a social person by nature. He needs to meet some of the people here so he doesn't feel so... alone. Really, Duke and being alone don't mix well. He's less likely to end up in trouble if he's around people... maybe.
So he shows up to the bonfire with a case of old and expensive wine to add to the collection. He sets the box by the other alcoholic offerings so that people can help themselves. Then he grabs a beer and sets to socializing. His smile is roguish but welcoming. His eyes assessing but kind. Yeah, he can do this. Being sent into an entirely different world? Sure. Okay. Eventually Audrey and Nathan will figure out a way to bring him back to Haven. In the meantime, there are lots of pretty women here. That's Duke, looking at the bright side.
no subject
Maybe she'll make the cup of tea a glass of wine...
But somewhere between her apartment above the Gull and the Gull, Audrey ends up in a small seaside town that could be Haven with the exception of a few high rise buildings. The beach is sandy instead of rocky and she wanders along the beach toward a bonfire. If she's going to get answers about what the hell is going on here, it'll be there. Maybe this is a Haven moment.
In fact, it's probably a Haven moment.
As she gets closer to the people, she remembers she's got on Nathan's shirt and it's a little chilly. Also, she's got on Nathan's shirt and it stops about mid thigh. Not the ideal attire for a bonfire. As she meanders through the crowd, she begins to realize that she doesn't know anyone here and that's all the weirder. During her Haven moments, the people rarely change. Relief washes over her when she sees Duke. He looks like normal Duke. He's not wearing a santa suit for one thing. That's a good thing. She watches him for a few minutes before she approaches him.
"So....this isn't a Haven moment, is it?" She can always tell and right now....not so much with the telling.

After telling Aramis that he's going, he arrives on horseback in full Musketeer garb, of course. He's tried the more modern clothing the others wear before, and he isn't quite to that point where he can abandon what is normal to him just yet. He's comfortable in his leathers despite how heavy they are.
Porthos will remain by the booze for the most part. He loves wine. He'll drink and drink, regaling heroic tales of his exploits with his regiment to anyone who will listen. He's lively and loud, but also good-natured, just having a good time in spite of the unfamiliarity of their circumstances.

Cam Scordato || OTA
As much as he'd like to be clingy with her because he missed her so much, Cam has to remind himself that Sophie is an adult now and she doesn't need him as much as she used to. She'd do better with some independence. So he lets her go off and do whatever it is she feels like doing and maybe he's side-eyeing any guys she might talk to or who might approach her, just in case, but he doesn't act for now. For now, he's just enjoying the liquor and a bonfire because he's never been to one before. Being landlocked does have its disadvantages and while Greenwich was near a beach, it wasn't really the kind of city where bonfires happened. Country clubs ruled. Bonfires would've gotten the cops called, to be sure.

Adam's gaze follows that line of sight to where another group is. Who in that group is the boy eyeing? Adam can't tell what kind of look that is, but it's intense. It's almost the way Adam watches Ronan across a room except, not quite. Maybe it isn't romantic. But it's something.
"Looking for someone?" Adam asks, knowing full well that he could switch out 'for' for 'at', but the alternative seems a little too intrusive.

As he sits he builds s'mores, holding the marshmallows over the fire on a skewer and then putting the treats together before resting a completed one in the palm of his hand only for the smore to shimmer and disappear. He alternates between doing this and making one for himself and eating it. He hums a tune as he makes the s'mores.
no subject
At some point in the evening, she starts to watch him. She gets distracted now and then, talking to others here or deciding that there might be something (food) more worthy of her interest. But eventually her attention turns back to the strange old man, especially when she catches one of the s'mores disappear. The action startles her and she scowls at herself before returning to her vigilant scrutiny.

Laura Hale || OTA
She's not even sure Derek's going to come, but she's told him that she's going to this bonfire thing. Maybe she'll see that Allison girl or Lucy or Hawke. They all seemed nice. Laura's not willing to squander her second chance at life by holing herself up in their loft and feeling sorry for herself or chastising herself for trusting someone she should've been able to trust. Instead, she's going to live. If there are people having fun at a bonfire, however much Laura hates fire, now, she's going to be there.
Unlike her brother, Laura still has some ability to trust. She genuinely loves people. She doesn't know all the terrible things he's been through in her wake, because he hasn't opened up about them yet, but she knows that she's the one who died and still somehow managed to be a lot less broken for it. Laura intends to keep living and to keep learning and she's determined to get Derek there beside her eventually. It might take a while, but she'll get there. In the mean time, she'll be largely ignoring the liquor in favor of snacks and making conversation with anyone who might approach. Hell, even with people that are walking past who don't look like they're on a mission to find another specific person to talk to. Laura is the social butterfly to her brother's Grinch and anyone who knows them both or gets to know them both might even wonder how they're related at all.

katniss everdeen | ota
But any guilt is easily forgotten whenever she sees her sister enjoying herself. Unsurprising to anyone who knows the Everdeen girls, both spend a lot of time around the other. And, like Prim, Katniss tends to be extremely wary of the flames. Burns are the worst kind of pain and the lose-knit, oversized grey sweater exposes the burn scars that are proof of that statement whenever Katniss forgets to tug it back up her shoulder. Though she'll roast marshmallows, a safe distance is still kept between herself and the flames. Katniss' days as the Girl on Fire are long behind her.
When not with Prim, or with Matt, she tends to wander towards the edge of the ocean. Even after a year and a half of living here, it still amazes Katniss just how vast the water seems. She holds her drink (some fruity alcohol concoction that she had tried out of curiosity) in both hands as she stares out into the night - enjoying listening to the sounds behind her more so than participating.

Blue's hair sticks out every which way thanks to the clips and hairbands that adorn her head. She wears ripped and paint-splattered cut-off jeans with her sandals, and a tie-dyed tee. Everything about her dress and manner tonight is comfortable. The past month has, for lack of any better description, sucked hard. It's nice to be with her boyfriend at a party again and this time, to have all her friends there as well. (At least all the friends she has here).
She's more than open to socializing, especially as she continues to sip at her beer. Turns out the taste isn't that bad after all.

Gansey is wearing khakis, a cashmere sweater and his boat shoes. What did you expect him to wear? One must dress appropriately for a social outing. He's pleased to be there with Blue and he's glad that Ronan and Adam are close by. It's good to see everyone together.
While Blue gets a glass of beer, Gansey commandeers a glass of wine. "I have to admit, this isn't terrible though I fear we'll be tracking sand into the house for days."

This is the good life, clearly. Wandering around a bonfire on the beach with Lucky and making sure the dog doesn't eat too much pizza during the night. God knows Clint's not going to bother to clean up a mess, even if it is in his apartment. On second thought, given the dog's fondness for the stuff, maybe pizza wasn't the right thing to bring with her tonight. But Kate had been taught at an early age not to show up to any kind of social event empty handed.
Besides, this is so much better than any of those events she had been dragged to as a kid.

Not that Jenny has any previous experience with bonfires. Or parties. Or all that much experience with beaches and oceans either. There isn't a single food that she won't try. And why not? Alexander wanders the bonfire with a glass of wine in hand, his black coat buttoned up over his white frilled shirt and vest. He has his nicer boots on and his glasses are perched on his nose. He's happy to talk to anyone for as long as they can stand him. Periodically, he glances over to the smores materials. Sugar and chocolate are luxuries to him, and he's sorely tempted to indulge.

While making her rounds, Lydia approaches the man and offers him a smile. "Hello," she greets. "I'm, like, loving that look," she says with warm honesty as she gestures toward the frills and coat.
Lydia holds out a hand to shake. "I'm Lydia, thank you for coming. Glad you could make it."
Sirius Black | OTA
He's had to clean up his act much faster than he'd like now that he has Bo to look after, but in the end, it's worth it. He loves her to death and he wouldn't trade her for anything in the world, and she wants to go to the bonfire. So, they go to the bonfire. She wants to explore the bonfire, so he lets her explore the bonfire, and he makes sure that he nurses his second beer instead of inhaling it. Best of all, Sirius allows himself to sit down for once instead of following her around like - well, like an overprotective mother hen. These are good people, from what he's been able to gather since his arrival. It's a good opportunity to let her feel like she has some sort of freedom away from him while also making sure that she doesn't go too far.
It's not like this is the most dangerous situation that she's been in, though, not with the way she's managed to drag together every damn super powered person in this place and force them under one roof. Sirius is no hero, let alone a super hero... he's no Flash, or Spiderman (honestly, out of all the names someone could pick, these blokes really pulled the short straw) but he also isn't willing to let her be a part of that super secret friend club without him. So, apparently, Sirius is a part of a superhuman team now. And to think he just wanted to rot on the damn beach drinking alcohol from a coconut shell and chatting up beautiful people for the rest of his life. How silly of him.
So maybe he needs this. It's been a while since he's allowed himself to socialize and at his core, Sirius is quite the social being. He doesn't concentrate on himself enough anymore and he's realizing just now, as he looks around, that he hasn't managed to really speak to anyone about anything other than keeping Bo safe. Merlin, Prongs would laugh his arse off if he could see what Black had become. "Alright, old boy," he mumbles to himself as he works himself back up to his feet, partially to force himself to socialize and partially to get himself another drink. The 'nursing' thing didn't work. "Get moving, nobody is going to give a damn if you sit on your arse all night without even saying hello."
Derek Hale | OTA
He's trying to be good, though. Laura had been excited to have her brother join him, and he had promised that he would try this out, so here he is. Mostly keeping to himself, sure, but hey. He's here and that has to count for something, right?
For the most part, he spends his time
lurking in the shadowswalking along the beach whenever he's not with Laura, and observing people. What? It's all part of his people watching needs, considering he's still new in town and it's almost as if he's trying to figure if anyone here is a threat. Because, as perfect as this place is, Derek is still a paranoid bastard; he's not ready to let his guard down just yet.no subject
There's a lot of people drinking and Bo decides it's better just to leave that alone. Sirius would probably kill her if she managed to get her hands on something like that, anyway, so it's not really worth it. But there's s'mores and there's so many people in happy moods; that rubs off on Bo. She feels what the people around her feel. Back in the other pocket universes, that was always so overwhelmingly sad or scared or angry, but here? Here, it's good. People like it here. People feel safe.
She's just finished a s'more and she's sucking marshmallow off her fingers when she sees a familiar face in the crowd. Not just any familiar face. Lydia's face is familiar. Allison's is. Laura's — even if she's not the right one — Cisco and Barry, and Steve and Natasha, Matt...these are all faces with which Bo is familiar, either from here now or from before in some place or another. But none of them carry the same weight. It doesn't occur to her to consider the fact that, like a couple of others, he isn't the one she knows. It doesn't occur to her to approach slowly or consider that she can actually feel how paranoid he feels — that stopped working on her Derek back home a long time ago; she got too close and, like Sirius, he became too familiar to read — she just knows that he's Derek and every Derek she's met so far has been good and safe and the one she misses the most might as well have been another dad to her. She spent the night in the apartment with the Mikas a million times. He invited she and Sirius to Loro Parque to play with the dolphins.
She's so excited to see that particular face that Bo doesn't give it a second thought before she takes off running, huge grin on her face and ponytail bobbing in her wake as she launches herself at him, calling out his name at the last second before colliding with him and squeezing her arms around his waist, face pressed against his stomach. Sirius will finally be happy and if Derek is here, then Mika is too, somewhere. "You're always late, we didn't think you were coming at all this time," she says, lifting her head to beam happily up at him.
