Bonfire Mingle Post || OTA

Around the time the sun is starting to set in the early to mid-evening on Saturday, 11/12 as promised, Lydia will (hopefully with the help of Allison and a couple of others) have set up a bonfire on the beach. She's brought several bags of marshmallows, boxes of graham crackers, bars of chocolate, and s'more skewers so that s'mores can totally be a thing. There's also plenty of blankets and towels spread around, because she wants to be sure everyone is comfortable. Jill has offered to bring the alcohol.
Lydia can be found making her way around, greeting and mingling with anyone who arrives and throughout the night. She'll be doing her best to appear approachable so that anyone who maybe hasn't ever been to a bonfire and has questions will feel comfortable approaching her to do that.
[ ooc: please feel free to respond directly to this with your own top comments to play out stuff in here or you can use this as a prompt to make your own logs elsewhere, totally up to you. If you'd like to play with Lydia, please consider this her top comment. Mods, let me know if I need to make any changes to this.]

Whatever the seriousness of Cam and Jill, it's obvious to Jill that he's wormed his way past her defenses very fast. And that usually doesn't happen. It's both amazing and terrifying.
"Oh good. I mean, obviously you see the truth now." The not exactly hot part. "But the beer part. I think we're gonna brew some beer together. We're gonna make beautiful yeast together." It's her attempt at a deadpan joke, a beer joke. Instead of making beautiful music together. Beautiful yeast? Okay, so that falls short.
"Did he tell you about the wish magic and stuff?" She asks.

Yeah, he's got that way about him.
Sophie tilts her head a little at Jill. Self deprecation isn't something that Sophie has ever really gotten the hang of. Okay, that's a terrible joke, but it makes Sophie smile just a little. "Cam will like that. The beer brewing. Do you do that here? Brew beer? I mean have you done it before."
She nods at Jill's question. "Yeah. I'm still having a hard time believing it. The whole thing is a little crazy."

"Well, I'd like to do it here. I watched Marley, the guy who owns The Houndstooth back home, I watched him do it for several years until I started helping him just recently. So I have a lot of the equipment in the basement of the bar already. And I think I know what I might need that isn't there. I've been reading and doing some research." It was weird, going into Subtext the bookstore here and the book she wanted just appeared, a book about the ins and outs of home brewing.
She shrugs. "Anyway, Cam and I are gonna try it together. That way if it sucks we can commiserate with beer from the tap in the bar." Which amuses Jill even if it doesn't amuse anyone else.
Jill nods. "I get that. It's a lot to take in. But really, everyone I've met here seems to be nice so far. And I've been here a long time, me and my friend Lucy."

She nods a little, sipping at her own beer as Jill tells her about the brewing. "That's actually really cool." She's also getting the impression that Jill is smart. She likes her, at least as long as she doesn't break her brother's heart.
"The commiserating part will at least be fun. I'm glad he's meeting people and finding things to do." It takes Cam a little while to meet people sometimes whereas Sophie has always been the more social one who makes friends easily.
"Yeah, Cam tells me the people here are awesome. He seems to like it anyway. I'm still getting used to it and waiting for the first really weird to pop up. I guess you're used to all of the weird by now."

Cam is cute as hell and he's different, at least where Jill is concerned. He talks to her and makes it easy for her to talk to him in a way she's unaccustomed to. It might sound weird, but she likes the verbage between them, the way they can talk.
"And... and it's good for you too. With the getting out and the meeting people." Okay, that one was not so smooth. But still, the sentiment is there. Because meeting people is a part of making this place a better place in Jill's opinion.
Jill nods slowly. "Yeah, I'm used to it by now. It still surprises me. But I'm used to it. There's no weirdness or magic in my world so... the magic and the occasional monsters are kind of freaky, but sometimes cool too. Is there any of that in your world?"

Cam is a good guy, a sweet guy and Sophie is glad that Jill recognizes that. She wouldn't think that Jill was worthy of her brother if she didn't.
"Yeah. I'm kind of the social butterfly between the two of us. I mean, I like going out and making friends. This is a good place for it."
"Nope. We are a muggle world, at least as far as I know. Monsters and magic are total fiction and I'm not really that into that sort of fiction anyway. I've read Harry Potter, but that's required."

And maybe the fact that two people who don't usually make friends easily have made friends with one another without the influence of their social butterfly halves, says something about her and Cam as well.
"It makes this place kind of fantastical, but it grows on you." Jill likes Itinere now. Everything she could want or need is here. "What kind of books do you read?"
