Bonfire Mingle Post || OTA

Around the time the sun is starting to set in the early to mid-evening on Saturday, 11/12 as promised, Lydia will (hopefully with the help of Allison and a couple of others) have set up a bonfire on the beach. She's brought several bags of marshmallows, boxes of graham crackers, bars of chocolate, and s'more skewers so that s'mores can totally be a thing. There's also plenty of blankets and towels spread around, because she wants to be sure everyone is comfortable. Jill has offered to bring the alcohol.
Lydia can be found making her way around, greeting and mingling with anyone who arrives and throughout the night. She'll be doing her best to appear approachable so that anyone who maybe hasn't ever been to a bonfire and has questions will feel comfortable approaching her to do that.
[ ooc: please feel free to respond directly to this with your own top comments to play out stuff in here or you can use this as a prompt to make your own logs elsewhere, totally up to you. If you'd like to play with Lydia, please consider this her top comment. Mods, let me know if I need to make any changes to this.]

He babbles about powers and then cuts himself off. It leaves Sophie narrowing her eyes at him. "You know, you really ought to stick with the truth. I know this place runs on wish magic and if I can accept that..." she tilts her head at him and her expression very clearly says 'fess up'.
She laughs at his joke. "I'll be sure to let him know." She glances to Leo then to Cam and back. "Are you...interested?" Because she really could care less who Cam is with if Cam is happy. Of course, she fully expects that whomever Cam dates, they will like her as well, but not romantically. That would just be weird. Internal babble is internal and Sophie is glad for that.
Now she's just confused because he is definitely flirting with her and Sophie likes flirting, especially when it's a cute guy doing it. The flirting gets her to laugh again. "You've gotta work on your New York accent there," she teases. "I'll let you know if I need a model though. You would be expected to do it nude though." She's been drawing nude models for a while now so she manages to say it with a straight face.

And apparently Sophie is too because when she asks him if he's interested in sasquatch, well, he chokes on air, coughing and spitting until he squeaks out a "WHAT? NO!" He says, glancing over at the sasquatch in question again before shaking his head again. "I mean he's not that bad looking but he's also not my type!"
Just to make sure she knows what his type is, he looks at her up and down and every which way. "Needs longer hair, and another gender and... Wait. Why? Is he interested in me? So weird since we haven't even met!"
As far as the art goes, she only catches him off guard for a second before he once again waggles his eyebrows at her. "Well, Sophie, this really feels like we're on the fast lane, which I gotta say I like. Just let me know, your place or mine when the time comes."
no subject
She reaches over and smacks him on the back a couple of times. "Breathing is hard," she tells him, enjoying the reaction she got. "It's okay. I don't think you're his type either," she teases him.
That look gets an eyebrow arch out of her. Yeah, she's getting the message he's putting out there. She shakes her head. "No. I was joking with you. I did not come over here to pass you a note that says my brother likes you. Promise."
"Oh, I'd want it to be completely professional. I'd find an art studio to work in. After all, I wouldn't want you to be uncomfortable in the situation," she tells him. He's cute and funny. She likes both of those qualities.

"Always." He agrees about the fallout. "But see, we're ahead of the game cause we're watching for it." At least he likes to tell himself that. Truth is, he's often as surprised by a strange turn of events as the next guy... or girl.
There's obvious relief that she wasn't trying to hook him up with her brother. That would be a new low for Leo. Not that there's anything wrong with boys and boys. But Leo is so much of a ladies man that he'd have to know a boy really, really well to lean in that direction toward him. And he certainly wouldn't be the instigator of it.
"Are you kidding? My middle name might as well be 'professional'!" It's not. In fact, Leo is probably the opposite of that in almost all respects. "Leo 'Professional' Valdez. Has a nice ring to it. I'm gonna get business cards made."
no subject
"Well then, I'll put you on my fallout contact list," Sophie quips. She hasn't been here long enough to be surprised by anything, and back home her life had been low key and normal enough that the only fallout she dealt with was the one that happened when her parents told her they'd be cut off after she graduated college. That's fallout that she's still dealing with, or she was when she arrived here.
Sophie laughs a little at that. "Oh. So you've modeled a lot for artists?"
no subject
His nose wrinkles a bit and he shakes his head. "Not so much modeled as destroyed their work in a big ball of flamage. But, you know, accidents." Also, that hadn't been an accident. Sometimes when you're trying to get out of a sticky situation there's collateral damage.
"Also, I'm not so bad an artist myself. Only with things, not people." He says. "Dimensions of things I wanna build, to be exact. So see? Birds of a feather!" Should flock together, or something. "Or artists of a feather... whatever."
no subject
"That's quite an accident. Do you often destroy things in a big ball of flame?" She's still amused, half convinced that he's joking.
Her brows go up and she leans toward Leo a bit when he says that he's an artist. "What sorts of things do you build? What do you build them out of?" He's certainly caught her attention with that.
no subject
He sees that reaction and grins at her. "Metals, woods, a ball of string, basically anything I can get my hands on. Kind of a genius at building things."
He reaches into the tool belt at his hip and pulls something out a small sphere about the size of a baseball that probably shouldn't have actually fit in that pocket. "I built this." He tosses it into the air and it whirs around in a bright ball of light before landing back in his palm. When he sets it down, it sprouts legs and opens one 'eye' which is really a camera and goes over to Sophie to tap a metal leg against her knee, whizzing and whirring all the way. "It's scanning you."
no subject
"Somehow, if anyone else were telling me this, I'd be a little worried. Arson is a crime," she tells him, still teasing a bit. There's nothing threatening about Leo, and maybe there should be but...there just isn't, or maybe Sophie has already had one beer too many and she ought to stick with water the rest of the night. Regardless, she's not concerned that Leo is going to end up burning down her house or boiling her bunny (not that she has a bunny, but she saw that movie). "I get it though. You're hot," she tells him, eyebrows raising a bit and smirking. Yes, she's flirting with him.
"You're a very green artist," she jokes with him.
Then he's pulling something out of his pocket and her attention is focused on the little robot 'thing'. She can't help but laugh and hold a hand out flat, like it might crawl into the palm of her. "Oh my God, it's adorable! What's it's name?"
no subject
As he's said this he's pointed out several of the boys in attendance who just might dull the Leo hotness if he stood near them. It's all in joking really. But Leo does, in fact, have just enough of an inferiority complex for the words to have a tiny bit of truth to them.
"His name is Bond, James Bond. Otherwise known as JB." JB's tiny metal arms bring him up into Sophie's palm. His wiring makes some sounds and Leo makes a face at him. "He thinks you're pretty." And then to JB: "Back of JB or you're going back in the belt."
no subject
An inferiority complex is better than a superiority complex, in Sophie's opinion.
The little robot is adorable and he makes Sophie giggle as well. "Well, JB has good taste too," she teases, holding the robot up so that she can press a kiss to it's little round body. "Thank you, JB," then she looks to Leo. "You speak machine too?" She's teasing really, assuming that Leo is flirting with her via the little robot, and there are worse ways to flirt with someone.
no subject
He is flirting with her via robot, but really, that's the best way for Leo to flirt. He's better with robots than he is with people. JB titters at her kissing him and Leo nods. "Yeah, machines talk to me. I know that's weird. But they have their own language too. He just told you to kiss him again.... or me. I mean..."
The machine stands in Sophie's palm and screeches at Leo. "What?" Leo says to JB. "You didn't expect me to try?"
no subject
"To be honest, it might worry my brother too." If Leo blindfolded her, that is. "At least with the ADD you're never bored? Or maybe you're bored all the time and just distracted?" She really doesn't know. The rambling is also adorable. It's been decided, Leo is cute and she's at least entertained enough to want to keep talking to him, and even talk to him again outside of this whole bonfire thing.
At least it's unique. She's never been flirted with via robot before. She shrugs a little. "Isn't it sort of that way with everyone who has a talent? I guess I could say canvases talk to me." Though they don't literally and with Leo...they sort of do literally. Not that Sophie knows that. He makes her laugh again and regard him with one of those faux, teasing-chiding sorts of looks.
The robot actually screech at Leo makes Sophie laugh harder and once she's gotten that under control, she leans over and very lightly brushes a kiss to Leo's cheek. "There now you two are even."
no subject
Maybe it's a little bit of both with the ADD. Really, Leo hadn't meant to admit to having it even though it's probably glaringly obvious to anyone with half a brain who spends five minutes with him. But still, he's pretty sure that it doesn't add points in his favor and he's currently trying to rack them up for that moment when he somehow messes everything up... inevitably.
No, Leo is going to assume that canvases don't actually talk to Sophie, although he's heard of and actually been through stranger things, so she could be telling the truth. Maybe eventually she'll see the difference. However, when she leans over to kiss his cheek and he feels heat practically everywhere and knows he's turning a bright red, he nods slowly at her and pushes to his feet.
By the time he's standing up, he has a big goofy grin on his face. "And since things can't possibly get any better from here on out, I'm gonna make a hasty exit for the night. It was fun, Sophie. It was real. It was real fun!" He walks backwards, bumps into someone which totally ruins his cool exit when he has to apologize. "JB, you coming?"
The tiny metal contraption taps it's metal legs against Sophie's knee as if trying to decide which way to go. Then it whirs and skitters after Leo.
