Bonfire Mingle Post || OTA

Around the time the sun is starting to set in the early to mid-evening on Saturday, 11/12 as promised, Lydia will (hopefully with the help of Allison and a couple of others) have set up a bonfire on the beach. She's brought several bags of marshmallows, boxes of graham crackers, bars of chocolate, and s'more skewers so that s'mores can totally be a thing. There's also plenty of blankets and towels spread around, because she wants to be sure everyone is comfortable. Jill has offered to bring the alcohol.

Lydia can be found making her way around, greeting and mingling with anyone who arrives and throughout the night. She'll be doing her best to appear approachable so that anyone who maybe hasn't ever been to a bonfire and has questions will feel comfortable approaching her to do that.

[ ooc: please feel free to respond directly to this with your own top comments to play out stuff in here or you can use this as a prompt to make your own logs elsewhere, totally up to you. If you'd like to play with Lydia, please consider this her top comment. Mods, let me know if I need to make any changes to this.]

That's entirely understandable.

Adjusting to this place takes time, especially if Derek hasn't had to adjust to a place like this before.

"That's awesome." She understands the importance of needing certain people with you. She's that way with Jill. "Is he handling it all okay?" It all being Itinere in general. "I am having a blast. This was a great idea. What about you?"

Laura takes a deep breath and gives a yeesh sort of expression for a moment before she responds. That's a little bit of a loaded question, but she won't go there. She'll just answer directly. "He's...getting there," she replies because it isn't a lie, nor is it the full truth because Derek probably wouldn't appreciate her sharing with someone who is a total stranger to him so far. "He'll be fine."

She smiles a little. "Beats more Netflix with my little brother, for sure," she says playfully. "It's cool. I love stuff like this. Does this happen a lot? Because I could totally get behind more of these shindigs."

She hadn't meant for it to be a loaded question, but she's been here long enough to know that some people adjust easier than others. Obviously, Derek isn't one of those that are adjusting easily. Lucy nods a little. "Good. It gets easier."

"I don't know...sometimes netflix is a really good thing," she grins. She takes a breath and her eyebrows go up at that. "We have lots of festivals and celebrations here, but this is actually the first bonfire we've had. I like the shindigs. Maybe if one doesn't happen after a while, we should all get together and throw one."

"He's got more on his plate than the place itself, right now," Laura says gently. She can't remember if she came right out and told Lucy that she'd been dead on the other side of the door when they'd met that first day, but she has a feeling that she did, so she thinks that the implication is probably already in her response just then. Laura doesn't mean to throw her brother under the bus by any stretch, but anyone would probably agree that it's not going to be easy for him to deal with not only this place and his arrival to it, but to Laura's being alive again. Especially with the gap in time; he's years older than she left him, which means he's been without her a long while. "But yeah, he'll get there. He's a Hale, he'll be fine."

With a laugh, Laura lifts her eyebrows. "Not when you're watching with your little brother," she points out. "Netflix and Chill is a good thing. Netflix alone is a good thing. Netflix with friends is fun. Netflix with your siblings always has a fifty percent chance of ending in so much rage," she laughs.

She likes the idea that there are more gatherings like this, even if they aren't bonfires. Laura nods and smiles. "I like 'em too. I don't care what they are, I just like get togethers." She misses the ones the Hales used to have, but she can work with this. These people don't necessarily have to be werewolves to be a makeshift pack, do they? ...she could always turn them if they wanted, she supposes. It's nothing she's really thought about bothering to do before, but now in passing it's an option, Laura guesses, but she thinks probably building a pack of humans is better than no pack at all. "I'm so on board with this."

"Oh," Lucy says, nodding a little drunkenly. She does remember Laura talking to her a little about being dead on the other side. She doesn't know if her brother is dead or not, but she can only imagine how he might be reacting to his dead sister coming back. "It's a good place," Lucy says in response. What she means is that he'll be okay because this place is good, the people are good. Bad things happen, but bad things happened back home too.

"The closest I've had to a sibling is Jilly so I guess I can't really sympathize," Lucy responds. "You should come netflix sometime with Jill and me. It'll be fun."

The gatherings are something Lucy enjoys too. "You'll have fun here," she assures Laura. "And if you get lonely, you should stop by the Houndstooth. Jill and I are almost always there. " Lucy figures packs are a lot like family: they're what you make of them. They can include friends as easily as they can include blood relatives.

"Yeah, I like it so far. It's not hard to beat home, but I feel like this place does kind of go pleasantly above and beyond, so I'm not going to complain, that's for sure," she replies warmly. It's clear that Lucy is intoxicated to Laura based on the scent of her alone. Beyond the smell of alcohol there's a subtle shift in her normal scent that suggests something is different. Laura smiles. Hey, at least someone is having enough fun for the both of them. God knows she can't rely on Derek to pick up the slack there.

Nodding, Laura's eyes shift around looking for Derek again before coming back to rest on Lucy's face. "When you're that close to someone, it's hard to be without them. I would totally Netflix with you guys, just let me know when and where!"

While Laura doesn't typically care a whole lot about drinking, it's never really stopped her from checking out the bar scene now and again. There's more to a pub than the liquor inside it. The people tend to be especially interesting, Laura's found. "I'll have to, yeah," she agrees with a nod. "Thanks for the heads up."

"I am very, very glad to have someone else here who likes it," Lucy says as if it's a declaration. "Not that everyone here hates it. I think majority is in the ayes, but I always feel sorry for the people stuck here that want to go home, you know? I lived in a really horrible City like this before and it seemed like nearly every day of the week something embarrassing or awful happened. This place is a big step up. I don't know if the people running it care about us or not, but at least they're not totally about torturing us, you know?" She might have decided to ramble there. Really, she likes this place and she's happy to have Laura here.

A big smile bursts across Lucy's face. "Okay. We'll set up a viewing party. Or something like that. Do you like cupcakes? I'm a fantastic cook and baker." Really, it's one of her few skills.

Drunk people are either typically hilarious or really annoying. Lucy hopes she's not one of the annoying people. "No problem."
