Bonfire Mingle Post || OTA

Around the time the sun is starting to set in the early to mid-evening on Saturday, 11/12 as promised, Lydia will (hopefully with the help of Allison and a couple of others) have set up a bonfire on the beach. She's brought several bags of marshmallows, boxes of graham crackers, bars of chocolate, and s'more skewers so that s'mores can totally be a thing. There's also plenty of blankets and towels spread around, because she wants to be sure everyone is comfortable. Jill has offered to bring the alcohol.

Lydia can be found making her way around, greeting and mingling with anyone who arrives and throughout the night. She'll be doing her best to appear approachable so that anyone who maybe hasn't ever been to a bonfire and has questions will feel comfortable approaching her to do that.

[ ooc: please feel free to respond directly to this with your own top comments to play out stuff in here or you can use this as a prompt to make your own logs elsewhere, totally up to you. If you'd like to play with Lydia, please consider this her top comment. Mods, let me know if I need to make any changes to this.]

This sixteen year old kiddo is relatively new to Itinere. He hasn't really gotten out and about before because he's trying to figure out how this place works all on his own. But the word fire with the word bon in front of it has him out here and kind of excited. Not because of the people, but because of the fire itself. He's wearing cargo pants, boots, a white tee and his tool belt, of course. A pair of darkly tinted goggles sits atop his head.

Leo Valdez: Party Crasher Extraordinaire! Has a nice ring to it, doesn't it? Leo certainly thinks so.

In any case, he mostly hangs out by the fire. As it dies down he brings more wood and makes it more structurally sound so that the position of the wood makes the air flow feed the fire, making the fire bigger and bigger. Occasionally, he puts his palm out to add more fire to the flame until a log catches or something. See? He might be a party crasher but he's helping out! Really!

Jill has offered to bring the booze and she doesn't disappoint. There are several different selections of beers in coolers full of ice. There's several bottles of wine. And of course, liquor and stuff to make mixed drinks with it. She doesn't intend to stand by the booze all night, but of course she'll mix anyone a drink if they want it. She only brought stuff for the basics though: martinis, coke and rum, pina coladas, margaritas and daiquiris. People should be pretty set to make their own drinks too.

Tonight, Jill has dressed for the cooler weather. She's brought the people she told Lydia she would: Lucy, Cam and Hawke. It feels good to have these three with her. Also, it didn't hurt to have extra hands to lug all this stuff out here, even though it took two trips back into town. Really, she owes all three of them.

She'll mingle behind Lucy and Cam for the most part, never very good at talking to people she doesn't know without that buffer there, not out here in the real world. But she will make it a point to go introduce herself to their host, Lydia. She's a Southern girl and that's just called being polite, okay?

The most anti-social guy on the planet shows up to a social event. Of course he does. He's wearing jeans and a sweater Ronan had gotten him that probably would have cost more than a month's salary back home. But Ronan had dreamed it up for him and it's comfy and it makes him feel wrapped up in Ronan-ness, so he wears it tonight. To say he isn't here to be social is an understatement. He's here because he doesn't think he'll have to talk about his feelings about Noah if he's here around other people.

So he shoots a text to Gansey and Blue, saying they're going and to meet them there if they want to join. Then he and Ronan and Opal and Chainsaw head out to the beach. Their little strange mixed up family. Adam kind of recognizes some of the people here, but only in passing. Others, he knows, are new.

He'll mostly be with Ronan, hand-in-hand, because just cause he doesn't want to talk about the thing doesn't mean he doesn't want Ronan close. Occasionally, he might be by himself too, although not all that often.

Hawke is here because of Jill. That's pretty much it at the moment, not because she doesn't want to be here, but more because she hasn't yet made that many friends. As usual, she's wearing her armor, so she probably stands out a bit among the Earth people here.

Tonight she's trying out a martini to add to her knowledge of Earth drinks and she'll wander around to see who ends up coming. She even makes a point of finding out who the host is, maybe so she can approach and introduce herself.

Eventually, she starts adding a cooler touch to the whole thing, mostly to see it sparkle. Off to the side, away from the bonfire so she doesn't risk putting it out, she creates temporary walls of ice. They sparkle, okay? Besides, mages don't seem to be as hated and feared here and there aren't any templars. So... why not?

If the fire looks like it's going out, she instructs everyone to stand back before casting fireball on the pile. That'll keep the thing going for another couple of hours at least.

Prim has been shoring up her defenses all week for this. The sound of it was good and she likes the idea of being social. She just has to prepare. Fire is fire and the last time she was around fire, well... it exploded and nearly killed her. Did kill her in Katniss' version of Panem.

She comes early enough that she sees the sun set so that it's not as much of a shock to her system, and she happily helps set up when asked. Afterwards, she walks around, not with a drink in hand, but with a cat in arms. Buttercup is her safety net, as much as her sister is, and keeps her calm with his purring and soft fur. She's interested in s'mores, even with the extra effort of keeping them away from Buttercup.

All-in-all she's super friendly and looks like she's having a good time, even if she's a bit shy at first. Later on, she can be found approaching people to make sure they're enjoying the bonfire party.

A bonfire is a great idea. It had been announced the day he got here. Since then he's laid low and learned what he could about this place. He's tried to open that big blue door that brought him here on numerous occasions. But then, today, his boat showed up. Sitting over at the docks not far from here is a large fishing boat called the Cape Rouge. How did his entire boat get here? Just as it was back in Haven without even a spec of dust out of place? Good question.

Duke is a social person by nature. He needs to meet some of the people here so he doesn't feel so... alone. Really, Duke and being alone don't mix well. He's less likely to end up in trouble if he's around people... maybe.

So he shows up to the bonfire with a case of old and expensive wine to add to the collection. He sets the box by the other alcoholic offerings so that people can help themselves. Then he grabs a beer and sets to socializing. His smile is roguish but welcoming. His eyes assessing but kind. Yeah, he can do this. Being sent into an entirely different world? Sure. Okay. Eventually Audrey and Nathan will figure out a way to bring him back to Haven. In the meantime, there are lots of pretty women here. That's Duke, looking at the bright side.

If there's anything a Musketeer loves when he isn't in battle, it's a good fete around a warm hearth, even if said hearth is outdoors. Truthfully, Porthos prefers this. The outdoors, where there are very few buildings, where there's nothing but nature and fire and camaraderie amongst friends, he could almost imagine he was back in Paris in his time with his people - and he likes that.

After telling Aramis that he's going, he arrives on horseback in full Musketeer garb, of course. He's tried the more modern clothing the others wear before, and he isn't quite to that point where he can abandon what is normal to him just yet. He's comfortable in his leathers despite how heavy they are.

Porthos will remain by the booze for the most part. He loves wine. He'll drink and drink, regaling heroic tales of his exploits with his regiment to anyone who will listen. He's lively and loud, but also good-natured, just having a good time in spite of the unfamiliarity of their circumstances.

[personal profile] thefeckingmega 2016-11-12 04:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Gracie told Dani about this shindig. And of course, Dani invited Peter. Basically, she's happy to be here. Dani likes most people even if most people don't like her. To be fair though, she can admittedly be a bit much. Dani is a sidhe-seer, you see. Her ability is speedster, among other things. It seems natural then that she should live live full speed, out loud, 110% all day every day. And why shouldn't she? She's feckin' awesome!

She's never been to a bonfire either, not for fun anyway. She's stood around a trashcan with fire lit in it to keep warm plenty of times. But this? This is something else entirely. There's no end of the world, life or death shenanigans happening, at least not at the moment.

She sniffs the air, smelling something different and spots the girl with the cat. She things 'OMG CAT!!!' and in the blink of an eye she's standing in front of Prim, looking excitedly at said cat and wondering if she can reach out to pet it. "Ohhh he's so feckin' fluffy! What's his name? Or is it a her? Is it a girl cat? What's her name? Can I pet her?"

By the time Porthos makes it around to Marian, well, he's had plenty of wine and is still carrying a bottle with him. Who needs cups when your hand fits so nicely around the neck of the entire bottle? Not Porthos, obviously. He's in a jovial mood, what with the monsters gone and this pleasant fete in full swing and the many bottles having been drunk. Really, he loves wine almost as much as he loves battle.

"Madame Hawke!" He says with a dimpled grin, lifting the bottle in a toast to her before dipping into a deep, well-practiced bow. He raises up again and drinks from the mouth of the bottle. Then he's smiling again.

"Look at us, you and me, without our swords drawn and nary a battle cry to be heard." He boasts. "Seems we survived, eh? And that means, I owe you a drink." He will then offer the bottle to her, because why not? This is exactly how he would act with any other Musketeer. That he does with Hawke means she has earned his respect. They fought side-by-side, after all.

With Sophie's arrival came a new appreciation for this place. Maybe Jill had been right. Maybe if he just wanted something bad enough, it would happen for him. Sophie feels like proof of the theory, so Cam comes to the bonfire in good spirits. He has everything he could ever want here, now, and Cam doesn't want much. All he really wants is friends, food, fun, and his baby sister. So far, he likes to think he's doing decently well with all of the former and with Sophie's arrival, the latter has completed it. He's just glad that now he can really enjoy Itinere without worrying so much about his sister.

As much as he'd like to be clingy with her because he missed her so much, Cam has to remind himself that Sophie is an adult now and she doesn't need him as much as she used to. She'd do better with some independence. So he lets her go off and do whatever it is she feels like doing and maybe he's side-eyeing any guys she might talk to or who might approach her, just in case, but he doesn't act for now. For now, he's just enjoying the liquor and a bonfire because he's never been to one before. Being landlocked does have its disadvantages and while Greenwich was near a beach, it wasn't really the kind of city where bonfires happened. Country clubs ruled. Bonfires would've gotten the cops called, to be sure.

The idea of a bonfire would've been too cool to pass up even if Cisco didn't have ulterior motives to going. He wants to see these girls that Barry keeps talking about. The girls from "Supermodel University" as Barry calls it. Because, okay, the Flash is cool and Cisco gets that, but he also knows that Barry doesn't share that...and he wants to know what makes Barry so cool that he can catch the eye of "Supermodel University" goers.

Plus, well. Cisco hasn't gotten out much. He's been working on the gauntlets, mostly, in the lab. So he's finished them finally, which will come in handy when it's time to actually fight the good fight again, but in the mean time, he's kind of been wasting away in STAR Labs, not being terribly social, which...you know. Isn't good. There's a new life to be had here and new people to meet.

First things first, though, he tells himself: he needs a drink. Why not? It's there after all. So Cisco makes his way up to the girl who looks like a bohemian princess of hipster cool rather than hipster obnoxious and he smiles. "Hey," he greets. "Is this for everybody or...?" he asks, gesturing toward the array of alcohol, not wanting to presume it's not just specifically there for a group of people she already knows.

This kindly looking man is at the bonfire dressed in a purple and blue suit and tie. He walks with a cane and wears wire-framed spectacles. The handle of the cane is a golden serpent of some sort. He sits quietly by the fire on a tree stump that is just the right height for a chair and wasn't there before he arrived on scene.

As he sits he builds s'mores, holding the marshmallows over the fire on a skewer and then putting the treats together before resting a completed one in the palm of his hand only for the smore to shimmer and disappear. He alternates between doing this and making one for himself and eating it. He hums a tune as he makes the s'mores.

Admittedly, since Derek's arrival — however anti-social he's been so far, the big dope — Laura's been feeling good about this place. This is their chance to start over again and this time, there's no draw to Beacon Hills to call either of them back into danger. They can be a pack, they can be family. Most importantly, they can be safe.

She's not even sure Derek's going to come, but she's told him that she's going to this bonfire thing. Maybe she'll see that Allison girl or Lucy or Hawke. They all seemed nice. Laura's not willing to squander her second chance at life by holing herself up in their loft and feeling sorry for herself or chastising herself for trusting someone she should've been able to trust. Instead, she's going to live. If there are people having fun at a bonfire, however much Laura hates fire, now, she's going to be there.

Unlike her brother, Laura still has some ability to trust. She genuinely loves people. She doesn't know all the terrible things he's been through in her wake, because he hasn't opened up about them yet, but she knows that she's the one who died and still somehow managed to be a lot less broken for it. Laura intends to keep living and to keep learning and she's determined to get Derek there beside her eventually. It might take a while, but she'll get there. In the mean time, she'll be largely ignoring the liquor in favor of snacks and making conversation with anyone who might approach. Hell, even with people that are walking past who don't look like they're on a mission to find another specific person to talk to. Laura is the social butterfly to her brother's Grinch and anyone who knows them both or gets to know them both might even wonder how they're related at all.

Equally standing near the bonfire is this sepia photograph of a boy. His skin is tanned, his sandy blonde hair is the effortless kind of mess that most boys try hard to achieve these days, only Adam's is natural. Only his eyes are a pop of blue color in the light of the fire. Ronan has gone off to get them some beer while Adam stays near the fire. He looks at the boy across the way while the boy looks at...

Adam's gaze follows that line of sight to where another group is. Who in that group is the boy eyeing? Adam can't tell what kind of look that is, but it's intense. It's almost the way Adam watches Ronan across a room except, not quite. Maybe it isn't romantic. But it's something.

"Looking for someone?" Adam asks, knowing full well that he could switch out 'for' for 'at', but the alternative seems a little too intrusive.

[personal profile] adamparrish 2016-11-12 10:54 pm (UTC)(link)
As his boyfriend goes on a beer run, that does leave Adam alone and staring into the fire as if he's contemplating life, the deepest of subjects. And in all actuality, that isn't too far off of the truth. Adam is contemplating life and death and why he's here at a social gathering just so he can only think about it and not talk about it. Makes sense, right? Right.

Adam recognizes her from the network and nods. "I'm Adam."

There's a really awkward moment where he tries to shake her hand, but then realizes she's offering him a skewer with a marshmallow on it and belatedly tries to save face by taking the skewer. Well then. That was the opposite of smooth. "This is... nice." The general this. As in the bonfire. "Thanks for inviting everyone."

Even with the effort she's been making to branch out more, meet more people and be friendly for once instead of scowly, parties still aren't something she's entirely comfortable with. They make her think of the parties she had been forced to attend during the Victory Tour - even if those were far more formal and stiff than the bonfire tonight. Thoughts of the Capitol and the Hunger Games always tie back to thoughts of Peeta and the stab of guilt she feels for abandoning him in Panem even though he's better off without her.

But any guilt is easily forgotten whenever she sees her sister enjoying herself. Unsurprising to anyone who knows the Everdeen girls, both spend a lot of time around the other. And, like Prim, Katniss tends to be extremely wary of the flames. Burns are the worst kind of pain and the lose-knit, oversized grey sweater exposes the burn scars that are proof of that statement whenever Katniss forgets to tug it back up her shoulder. Though she'll roast marshmallows, a safe distance is still kept between herself and the flames. Katniss' days as the Girl on Fire are long behind her.

When not with Prim, or with Matt, she tends to wander towards the edge of the ocean. Even after a year and a half of living here, it still amazes Katniss just how vast the water seems. She holds her drink (some fruity alcohol concoction that she had tried out of curiosity) in both hands as she stares out into the night - enjoying listening to the sounds behind her more so than participating.

This is a lot of alcohol for the number of people Jill actually knows well enough to call friend. Of course it's for everyone. Also, while she may not be from Supermodel University, she's okay with bohemian princess of hipster cool... At least she hopes she's not obnoxious. If she is, someone needs to slap her before she gets too far down the obnoxious hipster rabbit hole.

Admittedly, she hasn't seem Cisco. It's definitely a new face, a cute face, and she offers him a small crooked smile as she nods and pushes her long messy hair back behind her ears.. "Yeah. It's for everyone. Whatever you want." She can make him a drink or he can make his own. Or there's beer or wine. Lots of options.

She holds out a hand and decides she better introduce herself. "I'm Jill."

Even without Adam's text to inform them that he and Ronan are at the bonfire, Blue had had every intention of dragging Gansey away from his desk in Monmouth. The last time they had attended a party together, it had been at Henry's and Blue had been dreading a party full of Raven Boys. She had been the only girl but it had turned out to be more fun than she would have imagined. Neither of them are familiar with the people throwing this party but that's okay; what's the worse that can happen?

(Especially since the worse has already happen, in the form of losing Noah.)

Blue's hair sticks out every which way thanks to the clips and hairbands that adorn her head. She wears ripped and paint-splattered cut-off jeans with her sandals, and a tie-dyed tee. Everything about her dress and manner tonight is comfortable. The past month has, for lack of any better description, sucked hard. It's nice to be with her boyfriend at a party again and this time, to have all her friends there as well. (At least all the friends she has here).

She's more than open to socializing, especially as she continues to sip at her beer. Turns out the taste isn't that bad after all.

Now this is the kind of life that Kate had imagined when she hit the road to California. Good food, good company, good drink. A roaring bonfire on the beach and the sound of waves lapping on the shore. So she hadn't exactly been in L.A. long enough to experience any of that. Most of what she had experienced was an awkward encounter gone extremely wrong with Madam Masque and being cut off from any of her dad's credit cards (not that she needs them, thank you very much, but...).

This is the good life, clearly. Wandering around a bonfire on the beach with Lucky and making sure the dog doesn't eat too much pizza during the night. God knows Clint's not going to bother to clean up a mess, even if it is in his apartment. On second thought, given the dog's fondness for the stuff, maybe pizza wasn't the right thing to bring with her tonight. But Kate had been taught at an early age not to show up to any kind of social event empty handed.

Besides, this is so much better than any of those events she had been dragged to as a kid.

Cam is so lost in his focus on Sophie that he doesn't actually notice the other boy there. So when he hears the other guy speak, it takes him a little off guard.

"Huh? Oh, no," he says, shaking his head a little and giving a sheepish smile. "I'm being an obnoxiously overprotective big brother."

Cam turns his attention to the other boy and holds a hand out to shake. It takes an actual effort not to stare; the guy is hot as hell. Everyone he's met here is beautiful, come to think of it. This guy is no exception. Cam thinks he looks like a California boy; wonders if he normally wears Hollister or if he's ever gone surfing. He doesn't ask. "I'm Cam." He nods over in Sophie's direction. "That's my little sister, Sophie."

Taking her hand and shaking it, Cisco gives another nod. "Jill," he repeats. Common name and yet he's never met a Jill before. "Nice to meet you. I'm Cisco," he says, letting his hand fall away then.

It turns out that two hearts isn't the only thing that she inherited from her father; the concept of actually wearing something other than the clothe's you're either born or regenerated in is just as foreign to Jenny as it is to her father. Her hair is pulled up in a ponytail and she wears the same military green shirt, dark tight pants, and black boots she's worn her whole life. Is she supposed to dress differently for bonfires? Or any event for that matter?

Not that Jenny has any previous experience with bonfires. Or parties. Or all that much experience with beaches and oceans either. Like every day since she found herself in Itinere, she's like a kid in a candy store. Everyone she meets is genuinely greeted with the same friendly enthusiasm. There isn't a single food that she won't try. And why not? She might have been born with an instant metal download of all strategy and military protocols but when it comes to the rest of the world, she's experiencing all of it for the first time.

Lucy has been all about distractions and parties lately. The bonfire is her idea of a wonderful time. She was more than happy to help Jill haul out the alcohol. She's dressed for the cooler weather as well as for the beach. She's got her hair pulled up in a high ponytail and once everything is hauled and set up, she's got a drink in hand. It's her usual mint julep (and she made sure that bourbon, simple syrup and mint were included in the haul).

"Why haven't we had a bonfire before? This is kind of brilliant."
