EVENT : Let it snow! Let it snow! Let it snow!

Starting a week before Christmas and into the new year, snow will start to fall. Amazingly enough, the city of Itinere never truly becomes snowed in. The snow continues to fall, but it remains in pristine perfect condition on the ground and in the air. One might even call it a picturesque gift from those who allowed people into the city. If you were dreaming of a white Christmas, you got one. The city is even decked out in garland and lights and ribbons and bows. The town square has a massive Christmas Tree that towers over the city. Don't ask how many lights it took to decorate it, no one knows.

Tis the Season, Itinere.

As with most things in Itinere, there's always a darker side. What would be the fun in a straight forward snowfall effect, after all? Build a snowman. Take a sled ride. Slip and slide in the wintry goodness. Catch snowflakes on your tongue. Wait. Hold the presses. Anyone who ingests the snow in any way will find themselves anywhere from unable to tell a lie to completely unable to stop over-sharing on everything. The effectiveness of the snow will vary from person to person. The amount of time the person is infected will vary too. Our gift to you: the special snow.

ooc: The snow will stop falling and melt away by the end of January. As always, feel free to create your own adventures with this snow either in this post or make your own post in the IC comm. There is a plotting post HERE if you want to make use of it. Also, be sure to look at the post anyway for ooc information you need to know.

They really don't. But it could prove entertaining all the same! In any case, Claire needs more friends and she's excited about the prospect of making a new one. That is, if Prim wants to be her friend. Claire had been bullied quite a bit at school and even in college.

"I didn't make one. Just enjoying watching other people make them." She offers honestly. "We didn't have snow at all in South Texas. There was the random snow once or twice. But it was more slush than actual snow."

Her eyes squint at the pristine bright white around them. "Have you noticed it's not piling up? That's weird, right?"
eveningprimrose: ({ the one i will still call yours)

Prim definitely does and she is the best friend to ever make. Also one of the easiest.

She has no idea where or what South Texas is, but she'll take Claire's word for it. "We had snow in Twelve, but it's not like this. It did pile up." So yeah, that's weird.

"We should make a snowman together. It's more fun with someone else." If Claire wants to, that is.

"You want to? I mean... yeah that would be cool with me." Claire nodded, trying not to sound as giddy about the idea as she actually is. She'd always been a young person surrounded by older people so she had learned to act their age rather than her age. Sometimes she had to really work to just be herself.

"I'll gather some snow from over here." She moves a few feet away and bends in half to start shoveling snow toward Prim.
eveningprimrose: ({ anything that you say)

"Of course I do," Prim says with a warm smile, moving to help roll some snow into a large round bottom section. "I love making snowmen, but I haven't really gotten a chance to in a few years. Last year, I guess we could have. This year we definitely couldn't. There was too much going on."

She meets Claire partway, rolling the snow she has towards her new friend.

They pile up the snow together and just keep on going. The first ball of snow is supposed to be the largest according to all the pictures Claire has ever seen. It doesn't escape her notice that where she had just dragged snow from was already filling in to perfection. That's strange.

She casts that strangeness aside though to listen to Prim as she continues to pile snow on top of snow. "Busy life got in the way, huh? That happens." When was the last time Claire had had time for herself without some catastrophe or another getting in the way? She couldn't remember.
eveningprimrose: ({ and i won't pretend i am)

The snow is acting very strangely, that’s for sure. Prim’s trying not to think too hard about it. Instead, she focuses on making the bottom pile the biggest she possibly can while they talk.

“I guess so,” she says, finding it hard to lie, even about something as horrific as Panem. “It’s hard not to be busy with a rebellion and evacuating a whole district. When we resettled in Thirteen... we didn’t have a lot of time to ourselves.” But then again, Thirteen liked to micromanage, according to her mother.

Claire stops in her attempts, similar to Prim's, and watches her as she listens. "A Rebellion?" She asks. And she would say more but she leaves it at that because it seems important all by itself.
eveningprimrose: ({ the only ones we really love)

"It's... a long story," Prim says with a sigh. "The Capitol and the Districts weren't happy with each other. The Capitol had such a strong hold over the Districts. Anyone who acted out was punished. Starvation was common, at least in our District. Then Thirteen reappeared and it was... more like a war, I guess."

She realizes she's saying a bit more than she usually would and so she stops, frowning.

It did sound like it was a long story, much longer than what little Prim told her. But even with that little bit of information, Claire's features turn to something with hesitant distaste. "I have no idea what you're talking about with districts and thirteens and all that but the starving and punishment sounds terrible."

She cants her head to the side. "So you came here from a society at war?"
eveningprimrose: ({ i cannot bear to hear)

[personal profile] eveningprimrose 2015-01-29 02:59 am (UTC)(link)
Prim nods, wanting to stop talking, but finding herself unable to. It's like the words keep tumbling out no matter what she does.

"Yes. The rebellion turned into war against the Capitol. I guess it was a matter of time and it's better to overthrow President Snow while we can... But I still don't like how many people are getting hurt."

Like Katniss. And Peeta. And their entire team.
