Someone want to explain what the hell is going on here?

action

Jessica doesn't walk anywhere; she stalks and storms. She storms into The Houndstooth, orders a bottle of whiskey telling the bartender to just leave the bottle because "you'll have to see me less and I won't have to talk to you". She takes a swig from the bottle then turns her attention to the PDA, poking at it and scrolling angrily (can someone even scroll angrily? Jessica manages it) through the thing.

"You're fucking serious. What kind of rich asshole brought us here and if it's Tony Stark I'm going to beat him and his bodyguard's ass."

"Classier and better. It tastes like fruit instead of whatever it is that you're drinking." Not that Trish has an aversion to liquor. She's had her fair share of swigs from bottles with Jessica, and even ordered something very strong from the bar before. Wine is just her favorite. It's a joy to drink, not something she has to make herself swallow to get drunk faster. She's only teasing Jessica anyway. There's no judgement. They both have their demons. They both have their struggles.

Trish is very happy that her tactic paid off. With that out of the way, she can just worry about keeping Jessica there with her when the time comes to worry about it. In the meantime, she knows they can live together well because they've done it before. There's no one else she trusts more.

"Did you find anything important out?" She wonders, shifting topics so as not to give Jessica too much time to think on living with her again. "I didn't think about checking the bookstore."

That makes Trish smirk and laugh. She would have to agree that bourbon is classier than what Jessica normally drinks. Trish is aware of why Jessica drinks. Trish used to self medicate for similar reasons, although to be fair, her mother was the one who started her on those drugs. Now she's become too much of a control freak over her own life to do that. She went from one extreme to the other, as many former addicts do.

"Stepping it up is easy when the liquor is free." She jokes. She'd known that things are free. It's something she's still trying to wrap her mind around.

"A star...?" It takes Trish a moment to realize that Jessica is emballishing. She draws a deep breath and rolls her eyes. Okay, Jess, you got her. She pulls her phone out of her pocket and looks it over with renewed interest. She finds the contact list and scrolls through the names, subconsciously making sure that her mother isn't here, that Will Simpson isn't here, that Kilgrave isn't here. That done, she looks through it more leisurely. "Lots of names I don't know. Oh! There you are. I should have thought to look through this before."

"I went on a few dates with a man who drank something called Glenfiddich, but only if it was a certain number of years old. A tumbler glass of it was ninety dollars and upwards. I can just never bring myself to spend that much on alcohol." Give her a middle of the road bottle of wine and she's happy. In rougher times she'll even drink the box wine if that's all that's available.

She thinks about it a moment and then rolls her eyes and shakes her head. "It's also possible he was just showing off. But it made me think less of him anyway." Trish has always been very charitable with her money. Also, because of an irrational fear of running out of money when she might need it, she doesn't overspend on things.

"My apartment here is nice. Our apartment. It already has steel reinforced doors and extra security locks... which is nice." Jessica understands how Trish feels about her own security and why. "We'll stop at the front desk and get a second key card."
