[So this is unexpected. Tina had been going through the door to the bathroom in the restaurant, when suddenly she wasn't there and was somewhere else entirely. And even more strangely, there's the nagging feeling at the back of her mind that something like this has happened to her before.

Thankfully the smartphone in her hands has something of an explanation, and so she heads there to claim her bedroom, though she can't stop herself from looking at EVERYTHING, and she's visibly nervous.]

Uhm, hi, hello... don't mind me, just, ah, going to find my bedroom... By the way, if anyone sees a boy in a burger costume or a girl with a pink bunny ears hat, or a woman with red glasses, or a balding guy with a mustache, let me know?

[And once she's there and registered, Tina does a double take as she opens the door to her bedroom, and just stands there, gaping.

Her room back home had been covered with horse posters, but she has her own little suite here that is positively PLASTERED with horses. The wallpaper, the decorations, the bedspread... it's a paradise.]

It's like a dream come true...

Okay, well... [ He raises his eyebrows, barely fighting back a laugh, ] They weren't the only talking animals around.

We had an actual penguin... and I wanna say an alligator.

Whoa... ....what did they talk about?

Uh. [ Nothing appropriate, honestly, but . . . ] I was kind of stuck on the "talking penguin" part.

[continuousgroaning]

... fair enough. I probably would have been the same way, even considering some of the stuff I DID see.

Yeah. You'd think you'd get used to it after a while, but... [ He shrugs. ] Even we've got our limits.

[continuousgroaning]

Mhmmm. [Another hug.] Has anything like that happened here so far?

[ She is the best little sister, don't let anyone tell her otherwise. ]

Thankfully, no. You're the best thing that's happened to this place.

[continuousgroaning]

Awww... thanks. [She flushes red at the compliment.] Hopefully I'll stick around for a while. I'd hate to leave you behind again...

It's okay. Considering we can come and go as we want, I don't exactly expect you to stay the whole time.

Maybe I can bring my family through sometime, then. So you can meet them.

Sure. In exchange, you've gotta come back to Jordan with me.

Wow... [Tina looks enthralled by the idea.] I've never been out of the country before. Well, except for those places we visited in space, but you know what I mean. I've been to Florida to visit my grandparents, but that's it.

[stefanged]

All the more reason you should come. [ he grins, already mentally planning the details. ] I'll show you around the capital, and if I can take you anywhere else, we can turn it into a world tour.

[continuousgroaning]

[Tina closes her eyes and lets herself daydream. And stops herself from mentioning boys.]

... I'd love to make that a reality some day. We can't really afford to travel, though...

Which is exactly why you're going with me. [ Stefan never quite lets on just how much he can afford - which, frankly, is a Lot, but in this case? ] My world might have mastered teleportation, so heading to Europe's a breeze.

[continuousgroaning]

Wow, that's impressive. ... You know, I never thought to ask about the kind of world you came from before. I guess I assumed it was just like mine.

[stefanged]

It probably was, at one point, but we had an alien invasion a couple of years back. That uh, that kind of changed everything.

[ he says, as casually as one might discuss the weather. ]

[continuousgroaning]

Uhhhhh...

[She's. Really not sure what to say to that.]

Were... were they good aliens or bad ones?

[stefanged]

[ He rubs the back of his neck, ] They were pretty bad.

But you know, at least they're gone.

[continuousgroaning]

Uhhhhhhhh... yeah... that's... that's something.

How long ago did it happen?

[stefanged]

Uh... [ wow. Either Tina's rubbing off on him, or he genuinely has to stop and think about it. Probably the latter. ] Five years? Six?

A while. The actual invasion was like, three days, but we're still rebuilding parts of the US.

[continuousgroaning]

[Tina shudders at that.]

I only would've been 7 or 8 years old then. That's a pretty terrifying idea.

[stefanged]

Wait, seven? [ . . . ] You're making me feel old here, Tina.

[continuousgroaning]

[Tina covers her mouth with a giggle.]

But it's true. I AM 13 now. Gene would have been 5, and Louise would've only been 3.

[stefanged]

[ He staggers back, placing an hand over his chest and letting out a sigh that could probably reach the heavens - ] No. No, no, that can't be.

Because you see, if you're thirteen, then that makes me... [ record scratch. ] You know what? You don't want to know.
