I got bored last night and made cupcakes. The Houndstooth is now serving dark chocolate cupcakes with peppermint cream frosting and hot chocolate cupcakes. If you don't like chocolate...what is wrong with you?

At least Lucy's intentions are generally good.

Lucy isn't paying enough attention to realize that Katniss is avoiding her question. She's too busy thinking about other things like her impending date with Duke. She laughs at that though and shakes her head. "No. He dresses normally. Tee shirts, jeans. That sort of thing." She tilts her head at Katniss, considering her a moment. Didn't she just--yeah. She did. "But let's talk about you."

She asked a question, Katniss.

It's exactly what Katniss is hoping for. That Lucy will be more interested in talking about her own date than discussing Katniss' love life. This kind of girl talk isn't something that she does often. Scratch that. That she does at all. Asking the questions seems a lot easier than answering them.

She smiles at Lucy's answer. The smile vanishes a second later when the subject reverts back to herself. "We don't have to. There's not much to talk about."

Girl talk is fantastic though and cathartic and something that every girl (and guy for that matter) should participate in. Lucy will be her guide and her go-to for girl talk.

"Weeeeell, not much doesn't mean nothing," she points out and takes a sip of her hot chocolate. "I'm assuming from your answer that Boyfriend is still in the picture."

Guides are helpful, especially when it comes to navigating the unfamiliar waters of girl talk. She's probably going to find out first hand how fantastic and cathartic it can be. It's probably a good thing that there's alcohol in the hot cocoa. In smaller quantities than Haymitch's white liquor, it does help to relax her.

"Matt," Katniss fills in, smiling as she says the name. "His name is Matt. And he's still in the picture."

That's the whole point of alcohol, or at least Lucy thinks it is. As for girltalk, it's a necessary thing. She's not entirely sure how anyone gets along without girltalk (or alcohol--her point of view might not be the most healthy).

"Oh good. N ow I don't have to keep calling him Boyfriend," Lucy smiles. "Still in the picture is good. He must be doing something right, or you are."

This is definitely a better use of alcohol than drinking to obliterate memories and getting horribly sick as a result. It's entirely possible that if she drinks too much tonight, she'll still get sick, but at least she'll have fun prior. Do something more than drinking her fears away.

Another smile crosses Katniss' face at the comment, and this time she dips her head bashfully. Some days, she's not exactly certain what it is they're doing but it is something that's working for the both of them. "I think we both are." She pauses and then looks at Lucy curiously. "He's around fifteen years older than me."

Having fun prior is key to dealing with a hangover, and in Lucy's opinion, the only good use of alcohol. Though, this is the girl that remains buzzed for most of her day. She is the most functional alcoholic.

As long as it's working for both of them, Lucy doesn't think it's anyone's business what they're doing. Lucy's brows go up a little at Katniss' comment about Matt's age. "Oooo lala," she teases. "Older man, huh? I usually have a thing for the younger ones, but when I was younger, I liked the older ones."

Having fun is one of those things that Katniss never really did much prior to coming to Itinere. Sure, she enjoys her hunts and treks in the woods. But that's always been a measure of survival as anything else. Loosening up, letting her guard down, and just having pure fun? That's still a lesson in progress. Lucy's been a good teacher when it comes to that, incidental or not.

Katniss blushes at Lucy's reaction. It's easy to be embarrassed. It always has been easy for her. She's grateful that Lucy isn't judgmental; she'll take the teasing any day. "It's Matt," she murmurs in response. "Not that he's older. Just who he is."
