NETWORK
ACTION
I know I haven't really hopped on here since I got here a couple of days ago but...hi, I'm Cam. I'm going to go get a drink and this is my open invitation for someone or someones to join me, because drinking alone is really, really sad and I really don't wanna be that guy. Don't make me be that guy, okay?
ACTION
Admittedly, Cam can't really complain about the digs here. It's actually a really nice apartment. It's like someone took the loft he and Sophie were sharing in Manhattan and upgraded it into something more spacious and less roach-infested. He likes that part of this whole deal. The part he's not so into is that she's not here, as far as he can tell, and he's lost his door. He looks for it for a couple of hours every day, but the promise that time sort of stops on the "other side" makes him feel less guilty for not really going all out while he's looking. He's not keen on the idea of leaving Soph alone in New York, that's for damn sure, but if time isn't moving forward with out him; if that's really true — and rumor has it, it is — then maybe the fact that he hasn't found his door back yet is a sign that he should take a minute and regroup; enjoy his life for what it is for a second instead of treating every day like a full time job that never really pays and gives no time off.
He loves his sister and he doesn't feel like she's a job all the time, but...well. He's done everything for her since he was eight years old. This feels like a chance to just...take a breather and he deserves one, doesn't he?
So he drops a line on the network and then he heads out. Maybe he'll meet someone; maybe he'll end up drinking alone, but either way...it's getting him out of the apartment for a minute because he's not entirely sure he can resist that golden sphere if he doesn't and something tells him he ought to wait on that until he can find out what's actually in there without having to open it to find out for himself. It's a random magical place that dragged him out of his real life and then closed the door behind him and hid it. He thinks it's fair not to entirely trust the gifts he gets while he's here.
Cam makes his way to the nearest bar and settles on a stool, his feet touching the floor with no problem even when he's sitting because he's so goddamned tall, and he orders himself a beer before pulling out his PDA to check the network again. Why not? He hasn't had a beer in a while. It's hard to enjoy a drink when you're on big brother duty twenty-four seven.

Lucy isn't sure either. She's probably more interested in Southern history than Cam because of being Southern, and she may joke about the 'war of Northern Aggression' but she's not serious about it. Ultimately, she considers it something that happened a long time ago and not worth spending a lot of time on.
Oh, it definitely is. Some horrible things happened to Lucy in the City and she doesn't usually discuss them. Denial is Lucy's favorite way of dealing with anything troubling. It's not healthy, but it's the way she handles things. Her eyebrows raise a bit at that and she takes a sip of her drink. "Maybe sometime when I've had a few more of these," she says, gesturing with her glass. Yeah, it's that kind of story. She's also totally down with being listened to just because she's hot. She likes spending time with pretty people as well, even if she is in some sort of weird relationship.
She laughs at that, chin tilting up a little. "I'm not much of a beer girl. I'm far more difficult than that," she teases. "I'm going to assume Jilly told you amazing things about me because that's how Jill is: wonderful, nice and my best friend since ever." She nods a little and clinks her glass to his beer. "I hope you get it then. Have you got an apartment? Do you like it?"

Lucy reiterates what Jill has already told him and Cam shakes his head, taking a sip of his own drink. "I will find Lucy's Beer, just wait," Cam insists. He's already trying to think of a few off the top of his head, but he keeps coming back to the ones in the series that Jill already said Lucy had tried. He'll have to mull it over.
"You would assume correctly," he says, although he and Jill didn't really discuss Lucy at length or anything. "Thanks, and yeah I have one. It's nice, I dig it. It's like a nicer version of my apartment back home, so, yeah. This place is taking a little getting used to, but I'm getting there."

"I'm looking forward to it then," she smiles. Seriously, it sounds like fun, even if they don't find a beer that Lucy likes.
She nods a little. "This place is like that. Jill and I's apartment is pretty fantastic, exactly what we'd want if we picked it out ourselves, you know?" She looks around the bar. "I'm pretty sure this place is here because we wanted it here as well. You have to be careful what you wish for in this place. It just might show up."

"Me too," he agrees and the thing is, he is, because it means hanging out with two beautiful women while talking about and drinking craft beer. It kind of doesn't get better than that, if you ask him.
Taking another drink, Cam nods again. "Yeah, Jill was saying that, about how this place kinda showed up on its own and probably because you guys wanted it here. I can't decide if that's creepy or awesome," he laughs.
no subject
Lucy nods. "It's a little of both? If you think too much about it, it becomes way creepy because you have to realize they're in your brain to a certain degree. Mostly, I just stick with awesome. There's a lot less thinking involved and it keeps the creep factor down."
Of course, she just explained why it was creepy, which puts that elephant front and center.

His expression shifts into something slightly more awkward an attempt at a smile, because while Lucy's making a good point, Cam is now fixated on the creep factor. "Yeeeaaaah," he agrees, sounding slightly uncomfortable and shifting a little on his bar stool, the word drawn out as he considers the implications that she's just laid out as if everything is pretty cut and dried. Whatever this place is, it's in their heads. Always, if he takes into account what Jill's said about things showing up unexpectedly. He clears his throat and picks up his drink, draining the last of it.
"I'm gonna go ahead and try to focus on the awesome, too, because otherwise I'm going to be perpetually uncomfortable," he admits with a nervous laugh. "I should probably get going, though. I've been hanging out here for hours."

One can definitely be a barfly without being a drunk. Lucy can attest to it. She spends a great deal of time in the Houndstooth. Of course, she also (sometimes) works there, but that doesn't change the issue at hand. "Good," she tells him, genuinely pleased to have the opportunity to make more friends, or maybe the opportunity to have potential friends come to her.
"Sorry," she apologizes sheepishly and takes a long sip of her drink. One of these days, she'll learn to keep her mouth shut. Probably not. It's part and parcel of Lucy.
"Probably for the best," she agrees on the point of keeping the awesome in mind. She waves a little. "Try to enjoy it and if you need anything, Jill and I are always around."
((ooc: good place to wrap?))
