Act like you've been there before | Open
[ Good afternoon, Itinere! There’s a bubbly, smiling blonde on your network.
Wait. No. Make that two blondes. One is a bit more subdued in her smile, but the smile is there none the less. The bubbly blonde waggles her fingers at the screen. ]
Hi. I’m Lucy and--
[ She tilts her head toward the other blonde, pausing almost as if it’s a scripted and rehearsed thing. It’s not, but these two have clearly done this before. ]
And I’m Jill. [ Said other blonde lifts one hand and waves slender fingers. ] And we’re co-dependent alcoholics. [ There’s a moment here to let that rest before it becomes clear that this one’s very dry sense of humor is shining through. ] Wait… kidding.
[ Jill looks sideways to her friend, brow arched. ] Not an AA meeting.
[ Lucy cracks up in a snorting laugh, covering her mouth and nose with one hand for a moment. When she drops her hand, that laughter still lingers in her smile and in her eyes.] Worst place to pick up guys ever.
[ In case anyone was wondering. The co-dependent part is true though. So is the picking up guys at an AA meeting part incidentally.] Now for the important, serious questions.
[ She tries for a serious face, but serious isn’t something Lucy does well. ]
Solids or stripes. [ Jill butts in quickly, pulling off ‘serious’ much better than Lucy does. Although it should be noted that she’d looked pretty serious about her prior AA joke as well. Live and learn. ]
Or, even more important. Why are the doors locked? [ You know, the doors they entered Itinere through that instantly locked behind them. No, they aren’t curious about being here. Strange places seem to be their MO. And at least as far as Jill is concerned, anywhere is better than where she’s been. ] Let me guess… super glue. [ Or magic.
Lucy prefers the super glue solution simple because that’s something they can get around. Magic isn’t something that they can circumvent, at least not by themselves. ]
Even more importantly: are there any Bama fans here? I’ll settle for football fans in general, though if you like Auburn you’re wrong. [ She says this with the most serious of serious faces. ] Next: Curses. Are they a thing here? And coffee houses. Not necessarily together. Definitely not together now that I think about it.
[ Jill’s nose wrinkles as she looks at Lucy again. ] Cursed coffee? Was that necessary? What did the coffee ever do to you?
[ She holds her hand out to Lucy then in the form of a fist, a smile working its way onto her lips while she waits for her friend to bump it. And as if they were in their own world having their own conversation, they say simultaneously: ] Roll tide.
[ooc: Action or network okay. You're liable to get one or both of them ]

As far as cursed coffee, I personally haven't been betrayed like that by my morning coffee here yet, but I suppose there could be a first time for everything. [omg NOT HELPFUL.]
network
Thank God for small favors? And let's both find some wood to knock on, in case jinxing is a thing that happens here.
Re: network
They have Jesus in Russia too, Luce. [ Again with the deadpan. She's going for joking. Although not everyone catches on to her dry humor.
It should also be noted that there's now the distinct sound of knuckles on wood. No jinxing. ]
network
Here's hoping jinxing isn't something that'll happen here. [She also knocks on wood.]

Not that the Mayberry part was so bad. It's the crack part I'm worried about... and the lack of football.

[ Those might be tears in her eyes. Those are definitely tears in her eyes but chins up, smiles on. Lucy knows how to fake it with the best of them.
Effie Trinket would be so proud. ]no subject
We don't know that yet. There could be... reruns. Maybe they have football-vision or some kind of football... uhmmm.... [ Okay. So much for trying to cup is half full it. That has never been Jill's strong suit. ] I'm reaching...

We'll make our own football team if necessary. There have got to be enough boys here we can charm into doing it. [ optimism is Lucy's strong point. ]
no subject
You know what? I'll enjoy watching you charm all the boys. I'm gonna sit back with a mint julep and watch the show.
[ But seriously, about the football. ] Maybe we can speak to the people in charge. There has to be people in charge, right? A President or a Mayor or something?

action
The girls are pretty, though. So, since Monmouth is empty at the moment and he doesn't want to risk bothering Ronan and Adam, he replies with nothing more than a tentative "... hi?"
action
Lucy smiles broadly at the appearance of a cute boy. At least this place isn't a total loss? "Hi. What's your name, Sugar?"
As Southern as they come, that's Lucy, even if she does affect a fake (bad) English accent sometimes for fun.
no subject
"I'm Jill. This is Lucy." She stands back, hands in the back pockets of her jeans and a sardonic twist to her lips.
Please don't adopt fake British when first meeting someone, Lucy. Trust Jill, it's horrible. And sometimes embarrassing. And occasionally contagious. (Yes, Jill has been known to follow right along with Lucy in embarrassing and horrible things.)

Noah smiles a little bit, ducking his head then raising it again to look at both girls: Lucy and Jill. "I'm Noah. Lucy's accent reminds him a little of Blue, a little of Adam, Jill's posture reminds him of Blue.
no subject
"It's such a pleasure to meet you, Noah." She puts her hand on his forearm and...yes; she bats her eyelashes. "Have you been here a while? We're brand new arrivals."

But she can match bubbly stroke to stroke. Jenny responds to the message with a bright smile on her face, her head tilted in interest.]
Roll tide?
no subject
Yep. Only less question and with more gusto.

What she said. It's pretty much a all around, every situation, useful mantra. It's like good morning, have a good day, thank you, you're welcome, we're awesome and yay it's Christmas Morning, all rolled--pun so intended--into two words.
Roll tide!
no subject
Oh, I like that.
no subject
See? It pretty much makes all things good no matter what situation you're in.
no subject
Just wait until we get you involved in a game. [ Lucy is so pleased.]

Uhm. I hate to tell you this, Luce, but someone else is wearing your face.
no subject
Oh.
My.
God.
This is fantastic! You're so pretty.
[ Says the girl who looks just like her. ]
