Closed | Come together right now

President Cell Phone (he hates that nickname, but then...Jane so he doesn't much have room to talk) called a meeting. It's about time they properly saw Monmouth in and got this quest off the ground. Really, Gansey just wants to see all of his people in one place. He's still a bit unsettled about everyone's position in the city. Blue has moved into Monmouth, which Gansey likes, but it's also changed the dynamic of things, or at least he thinks that's what's changed the dynamic. Ronan has been by Monmouth and rattled through his room, taking stock Gansey thinks, but he hasn't stayed the night. It's not unusual for Ronan; there are nights back in Henreitta that his bed goes unslept in as well. Adam hasn't ever lived at Monmouth, but Gansey wants to give him one last offer and he wants to make certain that everyone knows they're welcome to stay here.

Not to mention the quest. He's not certain if it's the same quest to find Glendower or whether it's a different quest, to find a way out of here so they can return to the Glendower quest. Either way, it's something for Gansey to research, something for him to take notes on and something for him to occupy his time with. It's an important facet of Gansey. He's secretly (not so secretly) an obsessed individual that can easily fall into depression without something to focus on, something productive to obsess about.

In any case, meeting. Yes. There's pizza and Jane has cleaned up a bit. Gansey had to run her out of the main room because things are scattered just the way he likes. He's shuffling through papers on his desk and making notes, mint leaf between his teeth when everyone starts to arrive. He'll put that aside to mingle.

[Open to Ronan, Adam, Noah, Blue and Gansey. Mingle style. I'll probably do a formal 'let's get this meeting started' gansey thing further down. No particular posting order. Let me know if you want Ronan or Gansey in particular, otherwise...have fun? I just wanted TRC buds things]

Perhaps Adam is the easiest to talk about 300 Fox Way with. He and Persephone had become good friends, after all. In fact, Persephone had helped him the most out of anyone. She wasn't afraid to tell him how it was, but did it in a way that wasn't condescending, berating or judgmental. Adam reacted a lot to the way things made him feel rather than to the actual words being said.

A corner of his lips twitches just a bit at mention of Orla's nagging. "I miss Persephone." He admits.

She smiles at that, glad that someone here misses 300 Fox Way as much as she does. She's glad Adam has Persephone to help him with his talents. Blue knows first hand how difficult Adam makes it to let others in. That Persephone managed to work her way in isn't necessarily impressive. Not if it's something she had set her mind to.

"It's not nearly chaotic enough here. Nothing like 300 Fox Way at all."

"Must be hard, to go from that to this." From a houseful of women to a houseful of boys. Ronan has told him they would sometimes be here too, not just at their apartment. Adam isn't sure how he feels about that. But right now he has a lot more pressing ideas, new and un-examined, to worry over.

He looks over at the others curiously, trying to imagine what Blue must think of them all up close as she is now. "We're not as loud as them. I don't know what we are. But we aren't that."

It's been an adjustment. Most of Itinere has been. She doesn't have to work here or go to school. Suddenly, Blue has more free time on her hands than she's used to. The trees decorating her room at home have overtaken the walls of her new one. Aside from that, her room in Monmouth is practically spotless. So is the kitchen. And the bathroom. Anything that Blue can get her hands on. The refrigerator is also stocked with yogurt and a host of other healthy snacks.

But overall, it's not bad. Living in Monmouth is a wish come true. And while she's a little more aware of how gross teenage boys can be, she still loves them all nonetheless.

"The closest thing to family I have here," she decides, smiling softly at Adam. "It might not be what I'm used to but it's a lot better than being here alone."

What a strange thought. Adam had never thought of Ronan, Gansey, Noah and Blue as family. But then again, he had never had anything close to a good example of what a family should be. So there was no void to fill in that regard for him. And the void he did have where his parents should be, he'd effectively filled in with metaphorical cement. How could a person who has never had a family understand the concept of it? How could a person who's never known love understand how to love?

Some of that cement cracked a bit when Gansey and Ronan had shown up at his father's trial. Ronan had actually worn a suit and tie.

Is that what they all are? Family? Is this what a family should be?

Adam is quiet for a long while, just staring across the room at the others before his gaze slides briefly to Blue to see her smile and then down to the plate of pizza in his lap. "I was lucky Ronan was here." So he wasn't alone. "Now all of you."

Blue had grown up in a close-knit family. She might not have had her father around but that had been more than made up for in the love that Moira gave her. And in the love she received from every member of 300 Fox Way. Not all of them had been blood relatives but that hadn't mattered one bit. Blue had never wanted transitory friends, people that would only be temporary in her life. It's different with the Raven boys. They're people that will leave a lasting mark on her life. People she plans to have around for as long as she possibly can.

Family.

She lets Adam sit there quietly. He's never had the sort of family the rest of them had. He might not see it the same way she does and that's okay. Blue only hopes that some day he will. Her smile becomes a little brighter. "I'm glad you think that."

Had Adam Parrish just made Blue Sargent smile? He quickly looks away and down, smirking just a bit, an act more in sound than anything that appears on his lips. The sentiment is there though. A good moment passed between himself and Blue. It feels normal. Like they're actually friends. He could get used to that.

"With Monmouth here and the Barns? Here isn't so bad a place to be stuck." He says. And of course with all of his people too. But that would be admitting to caring too much about the lot of them; Gansey, Ronan, Noah and Blue.

He had. That genuine and pleased smile that passes between friends. Though she doesn’t see his smirk, she does hear. And it reassures her just as much. Blue had wanted Adam Parrish as a boyfriend. She had wanted things to work out between them so much. The spark had never really been there and then, somehow, Gansey had snuck her way into her heart. Life would be simpler if she could love Adam in a way that wasn’t familial. Fate doesn’t make things easy. She’s happy that the potential for a good friendship is at least there.

“There’s the beach, too,” Blue points out. It had been one of the first places she had gone to visit. “I never realized just how large the ocean is. Forty-one million square miles sounds large but it doesn’t seem to compare.”

"Maybe we can... go out there. I mean all of us together." To the beach. Adam had never spent any significant amount of time on any beach. He hadn't even been to the one here. But it seemed like it might be a good past time. Maybe they can even find a boat, for fishing. Fishing always seemed like a fun and productive hobby for those who could find the time to do it.

He could see Gansey or Ronan wishing them a boat. Or a yacht. Or a cruise ship. Can you fish off of a cruise ship? "I've never been to a beach for fun."

And this time, Orla won't be anywhere near her boys. The thought stems from a satisfaction that Blue never would have considered herself capable of. But she remembers the way her cousin had shown off in that unnecessarily skimpy bikini on the boat. These are her boys and not Orla's. Orla would never understand anyway, how connected they all are to one another.

She smiles and nods, as pleased with the idea as if she had thought of it herself. "I'd never been to a beach ever until the other day. All of us should go. We could make a day of it. Bring food and a volleyball and whatever else people bring to the beach with them."

Ronan or Gansey ought to know.

[personal profile] adamparrish 2015-06-30 05:52 pm (UTC)(link)
"Ronan or Gansey should know." He voices Blue's thoughts without even knowing he's doing it. It's exciting, actually. If Itinere has given Adam anything, it's the time to think of himself for once. To think of things for himself outside of work and rent and school and his messed up parents. It's liberating, in a way.

Sometimes it's still a struggle to allow himself this liberation if for no other reason than because he's Adam Parrish. But he's getting better at it, he thinks. A lot of that is Ronan's doing.

He looks sideways to Blue. "Thanks." For sitting here with him. For not making it awkward. For being Blue.

Her eyes sparkle with amusement when he echoes her words aloud even if it is the logical conclusion. She doubts Adam has spent much time by the beach, either. The worlds Ronan and Gansey come from are so different from theirs. The sort of worlds that allow trips to tropical islands and countless summers spent on yachts rather than working.

The amusement fades a little when he expresses his gratitude. It's thanks that she doesn't know what she did to deserve. But she won't question it. Adam Parrish doesn't strike her as the sort to express his gratitude too often.

"You're welcome," she says. Blue takes another bite of pizza and chews thoughtfully. "We'll have some good times here, won't we?"
