I. MRS. O'LEARY'S ADVENTURE
[Lease laws. There is a big question to sit on Percy's mind today. See when he wakes up this morning, he finds his best furry friend sitting there at the edge of his bed staring at him, tailing wagging and knocking over anything in its path. Things crash, break against the floor even. He knows the only answer is to get her outside for a while.
And that's when the question hits him. Does she even need a lease? Would people care? Thing is Mrs O'Leary is an excitable dog and hungry one at that. Her nose can probably smell anything delicious a mile away, and with how energetic she was nothing was really holding her back from running up to the shop windows with food on display and licking the glass. Not really anything was stopping her from running up to people who carry food with them. Large red dog eyes would stare down as if asking permission to have what she sees. 'Pretty, pretty, please?' they could almost say.
On top of that, she wasn't exactly a poodle. Sure, back in his world, normal people saw her as one all the time, but he knows monsters here exist without mist covering up their true forms. His worry is if anyone coming face to face to her can mistake her as unfriendly. Add to that she was giant as tank with a gait powerful enough to make the ground vibrate...a little. And well. There's a concern he has with people seeing her as the hell hound she is. Even with her friendly appearance and tongue always hanging out to prove her innocence right away.
That in mind, Percy tries to stay mindful of anyone they come across on their walk and keeps up with her as best he can. In most instances he comes up running a little bit behind her with a wave to anyone the girl comes across because she's fast. He's watching out for her, too.]
Hey, hope she didn't scare you. Mrs. O'Leary here is just hungry, I bet. [He also gets the feeling she is playing 'follow the leader' with him in her exploration of this world, too. But it's okay. It's nothing he can't cope with.
He pats Mrs. O'Leary whom barks agreeably in response, when he catches up.] See! This girl's not going to eat you or anything. She's all friendly. No bite.
[Catching his breathe, he guesses maybe she does need a lease if she keeps him chasing her like this though. But also thinks food would be good to try appeasing her dogginess first. Last thing he wants is limiting any fun the ol' girl's having when they only just reunited.]
II. YOUR ADVENTURE
[Percy and Mrs. O'Leary will pretty much be everywhere around town from today on and not very hard to spot. They can be found doing things like trying to break the world's longest dog walk record, playing fetch with toys the size of car tires, or trying see who can eat the most hot dogs. You choose, folks.]

In his own timeline, he never saved Calypso. He blew up in a big bright light where he knew he was about to die. Then there was here. Itinere. Not Camp Half Blood. Not Camp Jupiter. Not Ogygia. He keeps telling himself there are plenty of beautiful ladies here to flirt with, and it's true. Leo's trying to move forward in the only way he can.
Percy is showing great restraint where he and Annabeth are concerned, Leo has to give him that. ] Yeah, she told me what happened to you. Not cool, Percy. You're the hero of all the missions. You can't die.

Leo can call it restraint, he will call it embarrassing and potentially life-threatening to brag about. He acknowledges Leo with a nod, but the look in his eyes share that he wasn't expecting him to know.] Oh, she did... Sorry, I probably should have told you about that. But I didn't really want you to worry. I came back, didn't I. Same way you did. Sort of.

The thought of Percy having to die and come back to life here has made him think about things though. ] Puts this place in a new light though, right? Or maybe a shadow, not a light. Death and danger should be dark, not bright and cheery.
Any residual death affects? Do you remember being dead? [ He's asking for research purposes. For all he knows, Percy ran into some trouble with Hades or something. ]

[If that's how the other half blood feels, him and Annabeth need to work on helping Leo's self-esteem together. Because if they ever needed a backup plan, and Jason and Piper and the rest of them were here, they'd either gather them up all at once to share it or bring them in on a meeting to figure it together. There's no way he'd leave Leo to fall to far down the grape vine like he thinks. Everything they did would do would be a team effort, in theory.
For Percy, Annabeth's and his own death and return to life definitely puts much more in perceptive than traversing Hell and even Tartarus did. He breathes out, nodding.] Boy, does it ever. I knew things were different here, but not that different.
I don't know how to explain it but there was nothing when I died. You would think Hades would be there because he's such a stand up guy who would like be the one to decide my fate, but nadda. Annabeth told me I woke up a week later.

It's also important to know that things here can kill them. The fact that Percy was resurrected though, that's something that's surprising and Leo has to wonder if that's always the case when people here die. A part of him hopes so. A part of him is also worried that his friends won't always come back if they die.
As usual, Leo covers up his glum thoughts with some craziness. ] Oh man, Hades is gonna be so bummed that he missed that! If I knew it would get to him, I'd send him an Iris message from the both of us, something to the affect of Na-nana-naa-nah. [ Oh yes, he sing-songs that last bit.
He sobers a bit though, thinking. ] I don't like the sound of nothing though. Absolute nothingness has always been kind of a recurring nightmare of mine, among other recurring nightmares. It's on the list. [ Just imagine someone with an ADHD mind like Leo's ending up in nothingness. Yeah, not good. Not good at all. ]

He won't think about death anymore. Or try to. It sets his mind at some ease that they can come back or else he might have felt more stress about it in the back of his mind about it. They would just have to be careful from now on, he figures. Probably best to set some plan up together with Annabeth. That thought doesn't make it to anything voiced because of course Leo knows how to change the subject. This time, at a pretty decent time, effectively cutting out his thoughts.
Percy exhales in a short laughter.] If I was sure it would work, I'd say go for it. Some of us have to keep Hades on his toes on when we're actually coming to see him.
[Death, humor? Why not. Their lives were already about pushing their luck and the three fates as far as they would allow. He thinks Leo will get it being revived and all himself. (Timelines, man.) He pushes his lips into a thin but genuine enough smile with a shrug as he sobers too.]
I never really thought about it until now. Think I would add it to the list, just below the fields of Fields of Asphodel. Nothing worse than standing in wheat with the feeling you did nothing good in life.
[They share a pretty similar boat.]

Death is pretty serious business that Leo is well acquainted with, not for the logical reasons, like he's a son of Hades, which he isn't. He's well acquainted with it because he died. He didn't even die suddenly, nope. It was a long lead-up, knowing what he was going to do well ahead of time. He had plenty of time to think about it, to torture himself over it, to not tell his friends his plan so that they couldn't talk him out of it. Sudden definitely would have been better, he thinks.
He's glad that Percy doesn't seem to mind talking about it. Because the whole resurrection thing? It needs to be discussed. There's always a price that comes with that, he thinks. It's the order of the universe at large. They may not know what the price is yet, but it'll show itself eventually. ]
So death is broken, so to speak. It makes me wonder if something is broken that needs fixed. [ He is forever Hephaestus's son, wanting to fix things even to his own detriment. ] I probably shouldn't try to fix it. [ He hesitates, looking at Percy. ] Right?
no subject
If there is a price for dying and coming back, he doesn't want to think about it right this second. The thought would give him chills.]
Yeah. Uh, no- I don't know. Personally, I'm glad that if is broken because you're here, Annabeth's here and I am too. It would have stucked to die before I turned 18, you know. And I don't think I'd want us to have go back. But, I guess, it'd be a different story if the harpies started coming back to life. What is your gut feeling?
no subject
Everything in his heart is telling him that he should leave it alone. Percy would still be dead without the resurrection that brought him back. And what if something happens to Annabeth too? He would sacrifice himself and that itch in the back of his mind to fix everything over the lives of his friends any day.
So after a long moment of thought, he shakes his head. ] It's possible that whatever's broken is what's keeping people alive when they should have died. I don't want to undo that. [ Mostly. ] What I am trying to do is to find the control center of this place so I can figure out how it works. The guys who work here with me are gonna help. You should meet them, Adam and Dean. They're pretty cool.
no subject
All he knows for sure is the long moment of thought is too long for his tastes, especially coming from someone as talkative as Leo.]
Control center? What- You think there's something like that in this place? [if so, there's definitely something he feels he missed. whatever it is doesn't give him good feelings about it. but count him in.] Huh, what's the plan? These friends you're talking about here?
[a sea of questions, he knows. but thing is he's doing his best keeping in most to help make sense of this.]
