Buy one get one free sale at Subtext bookshop today. No. I'm kidding since it's really more of a library than a bookshop in that we don't take money. Anyway, I'm here all day and I woke up this morning to a deed and a key. To the bookshop, I mean. Anyway, come see me?
Gracie out.
♥ Action
She really had woken up this morning to a congratulations new owner note and the key to the bookshop. That had been odd, but also in line with everything she's learned about this place. Gracie throws on a pair of jeans, some Chucks and a Harry Potter sweatshirt then coaxes Aslan into a big bag before heading to the bookstore. She's a little apprehensive about her key working, though she's not sure why. She just graduated from college. She's not sure she actually has enough responsibility to own a bookshop, but it is kind of a dream job.
Once inside with the door shut, she lets Aslan out of the bag and gets to work setting up her laptop, brewing a pot of coffee and generally opening things for the day. At some point, she'll start a fire in the fireplace and spend most of her day either exploring the shelves or reading. When the bell above the door rings to let her know someone is here she yells out 'Don't let the cat out!' and looks up from whatever she's doing to say hi.
At some point, she'll discover the very cool apartment above the bookshop. Well, that's convenient, isn't it?

She considers turning around before she ever sees the cat, or the girl who shouts out the warning. Shopping isn't something that she does all that often, at least for goods that aren't edible. Spending money on unnecessary goods is a waste. But Katniss heard Gracie's announcement. Not taking money; that sounds good to her.
Still, she's not certain what she's looking for. Books have never really been Katniss' thing but curiosity very easily gets the better of her.

Money isn't really a thing here so there's no sense in charging it. Katniss is free to take what she wants. She can bring it back later if she likes or keep it. It's really up to her.
Gracie gets up from the couch where she's reading and smiles at Katniss. "Hello. Welcome to Subtext. Is there something you're looking for, or do you just want to browse?"

She looks over towards Gracie when the girl greets her. It's not quite a smile that crosses her face but it's something more than Katniss' typical scowl. Despite the cat, she still looks interested in the bookstore. She shrugs a little in response to the question. "I don't know. I've never been in here before."

He enters the shop, careful to shut the door quickly, murmuring a soft, "Excuse me, miss," to the dark haired girl also in the shop as he passes her to peruse the books on the shelf. Most of the people in the town dressed strangely, almost indecently, to Alexander's sensibilities, especially the women. But he knew better than to go around barking at others for their dress...especially when he was the minority group in his white frilled shirt and vest...
After a moment of staring at some of the titles, he made his way up to the woman at the front of the shop.
"Excuse me, miss. Where are your books on politics?"

"Oh. Yeah," Gracie says as she stands up and comes around the counter. "They tend to move around a little, but Dani was here earlier and organized so you ought to have pretty good luck looking in this area," she says as she leads him around a book case and down a row of books.

But he turned back to Gracie with an inquisitive look on his face at her comment on the books moving around. He arches an eyebrow as he trails his fingers against the spines.
"Interesting phenomenon," he comments cordially. "Normally, when books 'fly off the shelves' it has an entirely different meaning. Have your books always done that?"

"Yeah, it makes it hard to keep inventory, but sometimes just the book you're looking for will show up on the shelf you're looking at." That part of it is nice. "I assume so. I just took ownership today and I've only worked here about a week. They've done it as long as I've been here. I'm Gracie, by the way."
