EVENT catch-all : the battle's done and we kind of won

Weapons have fallen from the sky, powerful weapons that slice and dice through the spawn of the creature above like butter and cause them to melt into the ground and disappear, leaving only a damp spot in their wake that emits a steaming vapor until it's gone. They may seem like nothing to the passerby. But when they are picked up, when they touch skin, they spark to life with a bright electrical current that shifts between blue, yellow, red, green and purple. It'd definitely not anything familiar to any of the city's inhabitants. There are swords, daggers, axes and staffs. There are shields and bows with electric bolts to shoot. There are even gloves that when worn spark to life for hand-to-hand combat.

This is the beginning of the end. Or is it the end of the beginning?

Alaina has come to recognize the importance of these new weapons and while they don't feel as comfortable in her hands as her normal battleaxe does, she doesn't complain when she finds out that they are capable of slicing through the spawn better than anything else. Gripping the new battleaxe in hand, she dives into the fray as usual, calling for any backup she can find nearby.

Her first order of business is to take a huge breath before unleashing it at the field of battle. Her War Cry, more like a scream that everyone can probably hear, echoes across the field. Every minion nearby turns in her direction and as a direct result, she can feel her strength and guard returning. The first unlucky one gets dragged in literally by a chain she has in ~~hammer space~~ her inventory. Once she's pulled it to her, she very literally gives it the boot, smashing her armored foot into its face and crumpling it into the ground. Following that up with Mighty Blow, where she puts every ounce of strength she has into slamming her battleaxe into the thing's body, she crushes it into the ground where it turns to liquid as she moves on.

Alaina's cries alternate through her battles. Sometimes War Cry, sometimes Challenge, the latter of which will seem like the scream is ripping her throat out with it. She often uses Charging Bull, digging her feet into the ground and throwing herself forward into a charge at the enemies, knocking as many aside as she possibly can before stopping. Her cries keep the minions focused on her and her Guard up, so she can take more hits than is likely healthy for most people.

But that's what a warrior, especially a Champion, does. Protecting people and fighting to the bitter end is how Alaina works.

Out of the available weapons which are much more useful than her own for this particular fight, Natasha is most comfortable with daggers. With two of those in hand, she's following Alaina into the fray of the battle, running fast to the nearest minino she can reach. Aaand probably should have brought earplugs, because that sure was a loud scream.

"Hey, remind me not to jump from out behind a corner to scare you as a joke sometime!" She calls out to Alaina as she starts slicing at a minion with her daggers. Alaina, are you also here for jokes in the middle of battle? Because Natasha sure is.

Alaina is used to fighting with rogues. In fact, she much prefers rogues and mages to working with another warrior simply for the sole fact that the warriors rely on taunting enemies and, well, an enemy can only be taunted by one person at a time. So one of the warriors tends to have as much guard as possible while the other barely gets any depending on the abilities they use.

"You'd probably find the wrong end of my battleaxe and that sure would be a point to remember!" Alaina tosses back as she pulls another minion towards her. "In the mean time, this sure is a drag!" And then gives this one the boot, too.

Yeah, she's totally down with the jokes in the middle of battle thing.

Honestly, as much as she can and does fight and is comfortable with it, Natasha is even more comfortable with more of the 'spy' side of operations and less the 'fighter' side of them, but she finds herself doing both most of the time. Today, she's all fighter.

"Don't let anyone tell you you don't have a sharp wit. But yeah, finding that end of it, well, that'd bite." Because her Widow's Bite weapons? Haha?

"Definitely, but I think we pretty easily have the edge--" More slashing with daggers. "--wouldn't you say?"

You know you're basically bffs when you can pun in battle.

"I think it looks pretty one-sided where you are," Alaina shoots back as she slices into something else and then buries the one trying to sneak up on one of them into the ground. "Me? I've got a handle on this situation. A long one."

A long hilt she can hold with two hands anyway.

Puns are the best. Puns with a BFF are even better.

"Don't tell me getting the short end of the stick comes with using daggers." In such a fake disappointed tone. "Every time." And an overly dramatic sigh as she finishes cutting through one more.

"At least we're a cut above the rest of these."

"Well, I wouldn't want to meet the end of that point the hard way," Alaina replies with a laugh. "But if we weren't, we'd have to cut them down to size. I think we're capable of that, don't you?"

On the 10th of December, one large tentacle slams down to shatter the exterior. A blue shield goes up in its place to protect the populace from the outter elements. (Thanks Korie) The creature slinks in and it's time to go to work. It's too big for the people to kill on their own. Victor will send in reinforcements. An army of Technicians comes in, each of them carrying similar weapons as the ones given to you in the previous days. If you work together, the beast may be slain.

Use the space to thread your injuries or to battle the big mob boss that falls in from above.

The massive beast will eventually be slain, the beast melting to form a medium sized lake in the center of Itinere. It will steam like the minions did, until it finally settles into just water. Don't drink it! (Who would do that?) Anyone who drinks from the lake will experience hallucinations. Otherwise, the water is harmless. What little is left of the buildings will provide unstable shelter. The dome above will continue to glow while Victor, Brig and Korie work to repair the wall. Through the rest of December, the glass will slowly start to appear again across the sky. By January first, there will be a full glass dome and the sky will look like a sky again with a twenty-four hour sun and moon cycle like before.

The battle's done and we kind of won! So what now?

Alaina is used to fights, used to battles with demons and things that don't die easily. She's used to the inevitable "what now" question that comes after every single one, whether it's won or lost. The plan this time is pretty simple: she's keeping her camp open. It seemed to work pretty well and with the buildings still in disrepair, she sees no reason to change anything.

She might not even change things once everything appears to be back to "normal."

So for the remainder of the month at the very least, Alaina will still keep her camp open. Anyone who wants to stay with her is welcome and she will keep vigilant watch as long as she isn't resting to keep her energy up.

She will also check on everyone she's met during this rest, especially if they're staying with her at camp. No one will feel as though Thedas' Inquisitor has ignored them.
