Ronan sees the laugh and recognizes it for what it is, but only because he's spent an unhealthy amount of time watching Adam. The problem is that if Adam expected anything different, he isn't likely to get it. Ronan could modify his behavior, but he couldn't change it. He couldn't change that he was more comfortable destroying things (and creating them) than he was doing anything else. He couldn't change that he liked to race cars and to fight; that he enjoyed doing things that gave him an adrenaline rush, but then Adam didn't expect him to change those things.

There's a moment of stunned silence simply because Adam asked, because Ronan hadn't thought of it in those terms before. After that heartbeat of silence, Ronan rolls his eyes at Adam. "The fuck else you think we're doing here?" There's a grin teasing at the corner of his lips. "Assuming you want to be." There's another heartbeat of silence before Ronan rushes to fill it. "I've never had one before." Maybe that explains those pockets of silence. it's got nothing to do with hesitation and more to do with worrying that he's answering Adam the 'right' way, that he's not giving him the wrong impression. If he's honest with himself, Adam has been his boyfriend in his mind for a while.
