Closed to Raven Kids

Who: Raven kids
When: The entire month of July
Where: Mostly the Barns, but I'm okay with it being used for anywhere in town
Warnings: Let's just make it R for everyone's sake. It might have everything in it.

With the lights out, the month of July takes the shape of some sort of weird slumber party. During the day everyone goes about their business. Adam works, Gansey researches, Ronan bugs the ever living crap out of Adam. Noah and Blue do whatever Noah and Blue do. Ronan suspects they’re still adjusting to this place. He knows it’s got to be a big adjustment for Noah. It’s probably not an easy one for Blue either who’s more accustomed to being around the craziness of 300 Fox Way rather than the craziness of Monmouth.

He knows it’ll be awkward at first, but when the electricity fails Ronan suggests that everyone stay out at The Barns. There’s plenty of room and several things that don’t use electricity to work like toasters and one shower that never runs out of hot water. Ronan feels better having the people he cares about under one roof, particularly when they’re not sure what the hell else is going to happen. Gansey agrees readily enough, always happy to have all of his people close by.

While The Barns allow everyone the space they need so that no one is piled up on top of each other, it is lacking in bedrooms. There’s the bedroom that Niall and Aurora shared, Matthew’s bedroom, Ronan’s bedroom and Declan’s bedroom (they can draw straws for that one). Ronan didn’t give anyone (including Adam) a vote when he claimed his room for he and Adam. He told the others they could sleep wherever the hell they liked. The couch in the den was pretty damn comfortable.

The Barns are also cluttered with dream things. The house, for the most part, contains the bits and pieces that function properly. Aurora had seen to that. However, there’s an entire barn full of frustration dreams for everyone to explore. The animals still lie sleeping where they’d been when Niall had died. For the most part, Ronan doesn’t mind his friends picking through the things and exploring. Niall’s office in one of the barns is locked and it’ll stay that way. He’d prefer that no one touch the mask on the wall that he’d had that awful dream, but it’s really only off limits to Adam (who knows that by now).

Explore, settle in. Ronan really is happy to have everyone here, to be able to share this with everyone.

[You’ve all read the book. Feel free to make shit up about the Barns. If you’ve got questions, ask and I’ll do what I can to answer them. Treat this as a month long mingle. Play with it and have fun. Adam’s birthday thread down below]

Being alive feels strange. That's what Noah would say. It's strange. It's strange to knock things over by accident, to get tired, to need to eat even though most food is disgusting. To have to go to the bathroom. To shower.

It's all weird.

Down goes the Slinky, seeming to walk down the stairs, one step at a time, almost looking like it won't keep going, then it does. Noah stays crouched where he is, grinning as the thing makes its springy way down the steps. It's kind of ridiculously pleasing.

Sometimes, before Adam had found out what it was like to be touched by Ronan Lynch, he had envied Noah his ability to slip away, to not have to do any of those things that all living people have to do. But now he doesn't think he could do without feeling Ronan, his hand in his, the way his feet are always cold in the bed, just... touching Ronan. He's glad that Noah has the opportunity for that with someone now.

The slinky comes down, wobbling this way and that, shaking, almost seeming not to want to come down but gravity forcing it to do so anyway. Adam's eyes light up, watching it make the slow gradual trek down. Ridiculously pleasing is right.

When it reaches him, he picks it up. "Heads up." He tosses it back up to Noah, the slinky semi flailing in the air until it reaches Noah again. "Do it again, but give it a little more push so it goes faster and doesn't loose steam." Like in the commercials.

Still grinning like a kid at Christmas, Noah does as instructed, giving the metal a push. (He can push it, and not just create an eerie breeze. Go him.)

Down it comes again, a little faster this time, with a little more spring in its "step" this time. Ha!

Really, if anyone touches him (and not a whole lot of people do - it's a guy thing, really), Noah may still flinch. They'll see.

This time, the slinky slides down with ease, one end quickly toppling over the other down the steps one after another. Adam almost smiles, like the beginnings of one plays at his lips but never fully makes it into something real.

He catches the slinky on the bottom step and then stands up, thinking over something else. Adam is a person who building things. He fixes them. He's the magician. And right now, his mind is putting something else together. He gestures for Noah to follow him and they hurry off to the kitchen.

In there he pulls a chair over to the counter. He points to a small stepping stool. "Pull that over next to the chair."

Grinning bigger - what in the hell? - Noah follows, bouncing the Slinky between both hands, accordioning it between his hands. He scoots the stool over with his foot, pushing it into place. Then he hands over the toy. He'll scoot back to be at the "bottom" of the ladder this time.

He's still grinning. This is fun.

When Noah takes the slinky from him again, Adam lets him have it to mess around with it while he sets things up. He keeps looking up and down to the ground, positioning things and then re-positioning them. Again and again for almost a full minute until he seems to feel like he has it right.

Just trust him, Noah. Adam envisions things and makes them happen. This is no different.

Finally, he takes the slinky and pushes himself up to the kitchen counter to stand on top of it. He places the slinky on top of the top row of cabinets in the space between them and the ceiling. He gives Noah a look that clearly says 'ready?', then he gives the top of the slinky a push.

The toy slides down to the edge of the counter top, then down to the chair, then down to the stool and then to the ground. This time Adam's lips twist into an almost smile.

"... wow," Noah says a moment after the slinky wobbles to a stop on the floor.

That was awesome.

He scoops it up and hands it up to Adam. Again!

"Maybe we can launch it off the roof of the house," he murmurs, because why not?
