So hey, if I were to open up a hamburger stand here, would that be something people would be interested in? I wanted to in the last place I was trapped in but didn't have the money or the space to or anything but if I can just ask for anything I want here... I'll try it.

... I'd give every burger a pun for a name, if that helps.

404. Well, this one's definitely found. And pretty nice. Though he's not really sure how the place had what he liked, he wasn't about to argue with a computer he had no hand in programming. So he's gonna be checking out his apartment, and possibly seeing who else lives here.

Around Town

New place? Time to explore! Yay. Or maybe he's having a jog in the morning to burn off energy. He might even look familiar to someone. Jake's just scoping the place out, looking around, checking out the shops and bars. He might also be looking at possible vantage points. But whatever he's doing, he's likely wearing a weird shirt

So, new here. Anyone have the lowdown on good places to go here? Fun things to see? Also, anyone else notice how weird this place is? I mean big blue doors and computers that have just the right thing. Makes anyone wonder. I mean not complaining, but looking for the catch.

Matt Murdock

Disoriented isn't exactly the right word for what Matt feels when he wakes up. He remembers the creature. He remembers the way it shredded the chestplate on his armored suit. He remembers the agonizing pain from having his heart ripped out, remembers that he was alive long enough to see his heart in the creature's talons. He knows what happened to him, but he can't figure out why he's alive now and he's very much alive. He can hear his heart thundering in his chest and the whoosh of his blood in his veins. He can hear how loud his living body is and as he adjusts to that, other noises trickle in, overwhelming at first then gradually fading away to something manageable. He takes a gasping breath, sitting up in bed. He's naked, but that's not unusual when he's in bed. He knows that Katniss and Foggy have been nearby recently (maybe still are, but he can't quite get a handle on his senses yet). He grabs some track pants and a tee shirt out of his closet, pulls them on and moves into the living room.

After he's had a chance to eat something and drink some tea (he's starving), he takes advantage of the network and orders the PDA he'd found on his nightstand to send a text to the network at large:

To be concise, what the hell happened here?

Audrey Parker

Audrey is unsurprised to wake up at her desk in the police station. It's something that's a common enough occurrence. She is surprised to find that her blouse is shredded and bloody, but there seems to be no wound on her chest beneath the blouse. She pushes herself to her feet and is hit with a memory of a creature, one of the creatures that have been terrorizing the town. She remembers dying, or at least having her heart ripped out. She remembers thinking immediately of Duke and how he would cope here without her; he'd find a way home and he'd be okay. Of course, that makes her think of Nathan and how he's going to handle it when Duke tells him she's dead. She doesn't have long to actually consider that though because...dying and dead.

Except now she's not. Now she's alive. She presses her hand to her chest and moves to open her desk drawer, pulling a clean shirt out. She changes then sends out a few texts:

I don't know how long I've been gone, but I'm okay and the police station is back in business. What's going on out there now? Are the creatures still a danger?

Once that's done, Audrey grabs her gun, pulls on a bullet-proof vest and heads out of the police station to see for herself what's going on. While she intends to make this a patrol and check on things in the town, she's going to ultimately make her way to Duke's boat to check on him herself.

Sophie Hamilton

Death isn't something Sophie has ever experienced before. Sure, there'd been a friend in high school, but not someone she was close to. She's certainly never died before. In fact, until the creatures arrived in this place, violence was something that Sophie only had a casual knowledge of: the random frat boy fight at school or a catfight in the hallways of high school. It wasn't something real to her, but the day she'd run out for more art supplies had changed that. She'd thought the daylight would protect her. It was only a quick trip.

When she awakens with a gasp, Sophie is in her room. There's a half finished canvas set up (she remembers working on it) and her room looks untouched so there's little to tell her how long she's been dead (how is that even possible). She changes from the blood stained and torn clothes she's wearing, shoving the shirt down deep in the bathroom trash (she'd like to burn it) and pulling on her favorite sweatshirt (an old one of Cam's) and a fresh pair of jeans. She pads barefoot out into the living room, cautious at first.

Once she speaks with her brother and finds out that the creatures that killed her are gone, she'll go outside, stop by the Houndstooth then the coffee shop. Once she feels a little more comfortable, she'll continue to the bookstore then the art supply store. She might be looking for Leo and some of the other people she's just started to get to know here.

Annabeth Chase

Annabeth startles awake, her hand flying to her chest. Having her heart ripped out is a new experience, but she's been gravely injured before and brought back so she's not entirely surprised. She's still wearing the bloodied Camp Halfblood tee shirt that she'd been wounded (killed?) in. She's also in her apartment (the one she'd barely had time to settle into). After a quick change of clothing, she leaves her apartment in search of the people she cares about. She's got her knife in hand, unwilling to leave anything to chance. She'll stop by Percy's apartment first then go in search of Leo and Percy if he's not in his apartment.

She can be found all about town searching for her friends and trying to figure out what's going on now

Ronan Lynch

Ronan isn't a stranger to waking up bloody, nor is he a stranger to nearly dying, so that's what he assumes happened. In fact, he'd honestly thought the creatures that ripped out his heart were one of his night terrors at first so he'd created a night terror in order to help them, the all white one that's so fond of him. It hadn't been enough, at least it hadn't been enough to protect himself. He hopes it was a enough to protect his friends. He wakes up in one of the barns wearing some clothes that have been shredded and bloodied. He pushes himself to his feet, swaying a little as the memory of his death catches up with him, but the need to find Adam, Gansey and Blue drives him. As per usual, he doesn't even consider using the PDA to contact them. He goes to the house first, hollaring for Adam.

Once he's reunited with Adam, he'll go to Monmouth Manufacturing to find Blue and Gansey. He wants to make sure everyone is okay because the last time monsters hit this place, they'd lost Noah. He's got no intention of losing anyone else if he can help it.

The thunder cracks high above and Jill is hurrying down the street to board up the windows of the Houndstooth again. She's been in Itinere long enough to know that something isn't right. This place seems to go through cycles of peace and perfection and experiments that range from ridiculous to horrific. With Lucy safe at their apartment, Jill is going to take care of the Houndstooth.

When she sees the first monster she becomes the most cliche monster movie chickadee in the world and screams and runs in the other direction. She slips into an alleyway between to buildings and waits it out for a bit before continuing on to the Houndstooth with her heart beating a mile a minute.

She'll be at The Houndstooth boarding up windows for the better part of the day before heading back to her apartment and Lucy. She has to run and hide a few times from several winged beasts on her way.

Text to Lucy:
I'm on my way back. Don't go outside.

Text to Cam:
Hey you. It's a mess outside so maybe stay in? It's storming and there's... things. Monster type things.

The City has been flooded with these violent creatures for a week now and it doesn't look like there's an end in sight. Jill and Lucy have been holed up in the apartment building for that week so at least they're safe enough. She's sent texts to her friends, making sure they're safe and even broadcasted that the Houndstooth is closed for the foreseeable future and please everyone be safe.

There's one day though, a day when she steps out onto the balcony of their shared apartment that Jill finds a heart, a fresh, still beating heart. "What in the world?" She whispers to herself as she leans in closer to look at it.

Flashes of memories hit her, Hawke and Isabella. She can see them, the love affair between them, the push and pull, and she smiles for a moment because she's getting this glimpse into her friend's life, a part of her life that Hawke has spoken about frequently.

As the visions end though, when Jill is left with just the live heart, the implications make her stomach roil. She grabs her phone and sends out a text.

Text to Hawke:
Okay, I really need to know if you're okay. I just saw some stuff and there's a heart and... just let me know you're okay. Okay? Okay.

ooc: please assume she sent a text to Hawke on the first day with Lucy and Cam. I just figured it would be easier to play things out this way. She can get the text when she gets back from being dead. (poor Hawke) Jill saw : this & this.
Also, anyone is free to swoop in and save Jill on day one, or not. She'll run and hide and get home fine. Just wanted to give the heroes something to play with.

[open | let's pretend this was posted earlier in the week please?]
[Since the appearance of the big tree in the town square, Katniss has been doing her best to learn as much about Christmas as she possibly can. She had mostly ignored it the previous year; the holiday not one celebrated in Panem. Religion is something that generally still confuses her. There had been little equivalent to it in her life. Why would President Snow allow any of the Districts to believe in anything other than the power of the Capitol and the nation and, most importantly, him?

But Catholicism means something to Matt. He's talked to her about it before and done his best to explain it to her. Though she's not certain that she gets it, Katniss does listen. She's been listening a lot since the tree has appeared. She's also been doing a lot of observing. From the decorations adorning storefronts and homes and the lamp posts to the candy canes, she tries her best to figure out how they fit into Christmas. None of it seems to connect to the stories that Matt tell her but the more she watches others, the more she thinks that maybe this holiday thing isn't so bad.

That still leaves one problem though. Something more than the realization that she may be in love with Matt, a thought that terrifies her. She tells herself that she wants to do something special for him because he's her boyfriend but it really is more than that. This is Matt's first Christmas in Itinere and given that the holiday may mean something to him, she wants to make it special. The first step would be figuring out how.

And for that, she (slightly reluctantly) takes to the network. The snow falls behind her as she stands in front of one of the decorated storefronts, a frown clear on her face. Hopefully, the filter from Matt actually works.]

How are you supposed to make Christmas perfect for a Catholic? I don't have any experience with Christmas, or with Catholics, and- I want it to be a surprise. So I can't ask him. [Katniss hesitates for a second, nearly scowling at herself. Asking for help is not one of her strong suits.] Help... help would be very appreciated.

Bonfire Mingle Post || OTA

Around the time the sun is starting to set in the early to mid-evening on Saturday, 11/12 as promised, Lydia will (hopefully with the help of Allison and a couple of others) have set up a bonfire on the beach. She's brought several bags of marshmallows, boxes of graham crackers, bars of chocolate, and s'more skewers so that s'mores can totally be a thing. There's also plenty of blankets and towels spread around, because she wants to be sure everyone is comfortable. Jill has offered to bring the alcohol.

Lydia can be found making her way around, greeting and mingling with anyone who arrives and throughout the night. She'll be doing her best to appear approachable so that anyone who maybe hasn't ever been to a bonfire and has questions will feel comfortable approaching her to do that.

[ ooc: please feel free to respond directly to this with your own top comments to play out stuff in here or you can use this as a prompt to make your own logs elsewhere, totally up to you. If you'd like to play with Lydia, please consider this her top comment. Mods, let me know if I need to make any changes to this.]

{ text to Cam }

Okay, first it's rude to arrange to have your little sister kidnapped and not be there to greet her. Second, Mom and Dad won't notice the ransom notes for at least a month so I hope you're not planning on starving me and keeping me tied to a chair. That didn't work when I was twelve and annoying; it won't work now. Third, thanks for the new phone. Who are all these other people programmed into my contacts?

{ open action }

After talking to Cam, catching up and doing the sibling thing, she decides to do her own sort of wandering around. It's how she'd familiarized herself with their little corner of New York as well as campus. She figures it'll work here just as well. Besides, after everything that Cam told her, she's curious about this place. Okay, the truth is she'd be curious about it regardless, she's just that sort of person, but everything he said added to that curiosity.

Fortunately, the weather here and back home had been very similar. She's dressed in a pair of jeans that splattered with paint on one thigh and a chunky burgundy sweater. She hits the beach first and uses her PDA to take some pictures. She'll probably end up painting some of this later. After that, she wanders along the sidewalks of the town proper. There is, particularly after New York City, surprisingly very little traffic. She pokes into some of the stores and is delighted to find a well stocked art supply shop. Cam had explained to her a bit about the lack of money here, so she decides to try it out in a coffee shop and is delighted to find that no one even hesitates before giving her a hot tea with milk. Okay, she could get used to this. She'll go in a few more shops before finally heading back to the apartment building to get the key to the apartment she now shares with Cam.

Steve has been here for a week and though he knows that he needs to get back home and has been trying to find the right door to do so, he is also beginning to get used to the place.

There's a golden sphere sitting in the center of his table in his apartment. The apartment itself is an exact replica of the apartment he used to live in before he joined the army. It isn't fancy by any means, but it's the closest to feeling like "home" than any place he's been since. He wonders how they knew every detail, down to his mother's wooden breadbox. Even the kitchen sink makes the knocking sound his old apartment's used to.

It's a trip back in time, but it only exists within the walls of his apartment. Everywhere else is modern and technologically up to date. He feels like it should be disorientating, but mosty, he just feels strangely grateful to have somewhere he can go to where things still feel simple and uncomplicated.

He's not sure why he's decided to pen the sphere this morning, but curiosity gets the best of him. Maybe the gift is a way for him to find his way back home. Things may be infinitely more complicated, and even painful, but he has unfinished buisness and a best friend to protect.

He is not familiar with the song, but it's effects are quick. He immediately feels his spirits lift and when the song finishes he is surprised to find he feels a million pounds lighter. The sunshine seems to be missing from the downpour going on outside, but he can't help but want some company. He hasn't felt this good, since... before the war.

He finds the nearest bar and orders a round for everyone. He'll spend the next few hours there, having a good time for the first time in a long time.

OPEN | Network or Action | I was a tourist with no story lost in this purgatory
I know I haven't really hopped on here since I got here a couple of days ago but...hi, I'm Cam. I'm going to go get a drink and this is my open invitation for someone or someones to join me, because drinking alone is really, really sad and I really don't wanna be that guy. Don't make me be that guy, okay?

Admittedly, Cam can't really complain about the digs here. It's actually a really nice apartment. It's like someone took the loft he and Sophie were sharing in Manhattan and upgraded it into something more spacious and less roach-infested. He likes that part of this whole deal. The part he's not so into is that she's not here, as far as he can tell, and he's lost his door. He looks for it for a couple of hours every day, but the promise that time sort of stops on the "other side" makes him feel less guilty for not really going all out while he's looking. He's not keen on the idea of leaving Soph alone in New York, that's for damn sure, but if time isn't moving forward with out him; if that's really true — and rumor has it, it is — then maybe the fact that he hasn't found his door back yet is a sign that he should take a minute and regroup; enjoy his life for what it is for a second instead of treating every day like a full time job that never really pays and gives no time off.

He loves his sister and he doesn't feel like she's a job all the time, but...well. He's done everything for her since he was eight years old. This feels like a chance to just...take a breather and he deserves one, doesn't he?

So he drops a line on the network and then he heads out. Maybe he'll meet someone; maybe he'll end up drinking alone, but either way...it's getting him out of the apartment for a minute because he's not entirely sure he can resist that golden sphere if he doesn't and something tells him he ought to wait on that until he can find out what's actually in there without having to open it to find out for himself. It's a random magical place that dragged him out of his real life and then closed the door behind him and hid it. He thinks it's fair not to entirely trust the gifts he gets while he's here.

Cam makes his way to the nearest bar and settles on a stool, his feet touching the floor with no problem even when he's sitting because he's so goddamned tall, and he orders himself a beer before pulling out his PDA to check the network again. Why not? He hasn't had a beer in a while. It's hard to enjoy a drink when you're on big brother duty twenty-four seven.
